Our beauty and makeup routines can range from incredibly time consuming
and costly to basically nothing (we all have those days?)
If you spend just fifteen minutes a day moisturizing or shaving that is eighty-four hours
of your life that you waste every year. Do you know what you can with an extra eighty-four hours a year?
Not much when you spend it in the bathroom!
There are, however, ways of looking your best without spending as much time as you do on your body.
Some you may be using, a several others will be new goodies to add to your arsenal, but just a few shortcuts will save you time, money and a lot of stress. Here are ten of those shortcuts.
Edible Beauty.
I already own numerous beauty products whose smells makes my stomach grumble (from
grapefruit lip scrubs to brown sugar body polish and soothing honey masks!)
When it comes to blemishes, many of us are of the belief there is very little that is worse.
Not to mention there is no magic amount of even the most concentrated spot treatments that will do the trick quickly.
Many of women leave it at that and think that all is lost, but it isn’t.
There are actually a couple of organic tricks for getting rid of spots,
but applying yogurt is one of the most effective.
Yogurt is full of lactic acid, fat and probiotics that tackle the redness and inflammation
that makes spots so annoying. Toothpaste is another alternative.
Tea bag Moisturizer
Suffer from cracked and dried lips? Then tea bags may just be your savior.
Just pick up a used or damp tea bag and apply it to your lips for a perfect shine and glow. Thanks to a tea bag, your lips will always look plump and fleshy and ready to go.
Another little tip is to apply a lighter eyeshadow than your lipstick to your lips.
It will boost their style, giving your lips a matte look.
Tired Of Shaving? Think Outside The Box
Shaving is the most annoying part of every woman’s beauty regime. S
having is where you spend the most amount of your time doing something no woman enjoys.
So, why accept the status quo? Just because you have been brought up with razors doesn’t mean there aren’t other options.
Threading and waxing are a little bit more painful, but far more effective and you don’t have to apply them as often. If something permanent is more your style, try hair removal.
You don’t have to spend a day at the clinic either because you can easily do it from home. For inspiration, do a comparison of at home hair removal systems on Aquilah.com.
Mascara Smudge No More.
How often have you applied mascara with precision only for it to smudge on your eyelid? Too many times! To avoid this mishap get a spoon from the drawer and hold it over your lid the next time you apply mascara.
Any dramatic hand tremors (uh we all have them) or slip ups and it will just hit the spoon.
Also, if you have any old mascara that you need to revive,
just add some saline solution to give it back its moisture.
Heat Up Your Nails. Literally.
Nothing pulls a look together like a manicure well done, but it can be hard work.
We pay a lot for our Dior, Chanel and Louboutin nail polishes, but if you don’t use it in time, then it goes clumpy, dried out and just plain sad. It is not usable.
However, if your expensive nail polishes ever does get to that point just pop it in a mug of boiling water for a couple of minutes. When you get it out, it will be as good as new.
To stop it from getting to that point, refrigerate your nail varnish. It will last a lot longer and it only takes a second or two to thaw out.
Wash Away Bruises.
Bruises have the tendency to pop up out of nowhere at the exact point you could do without them.
It could be a night out or dinner with some very important people, but bruises couldn’t care less. If one does appear right when you don’t need it to, apply a bit of mouthwash.
The ingredients of the mouthwash take away the purple colour and the nasty looking tinge.
Vaseline And Perfume A Perfect Combo
Good perfume doesn’t last all day, even though they try and tell you it does. The fear of smelling bad is always in the back of every woman’s mind, and it is a fear that no woman wants to realize.
To make sure it never happens to you, rub Vaseline on your pressure points before you spray perfume and the scent should last all day.
The ointment is occlusive and traps the fragrance to your skin.
Nix Foundation Stains.
Foundation is a tricky subject, especially if you have just purchased a new, white dress.
You can’t always be careful enough to keep foundation smudges off the dress, so you need other options.
You could just buy another one, but that would be too expensive every time a little foundation found its way onto your clothes. Shaving foam is a great alternative.
The foam lifts tough and stubborn stains from coarse fibers.
All you have to do is blot the stained area and leave it for thirty minutes.
Brush Your Hair (it’s not what you think!)
Want to give your hair texture without damaging it?
It seems impossible but if the celebs can do it so can you.
The most basic way to get the style is to use a toothbrush. The bristles of the toothbrush are fine enough that they won’t damage your follicles, but will texturize limp locks of hair.
Just run a toothbrush through your hair in the morning for extra volume.
Liven Your Lashes
Apply a coat of mascara and then use cotton buds to run over your eyelashes.
Once you add an extra coat of mascara, your lashes will appear as if they have twice the volume.
The best combination is cotton buds with powered mascara so the cotton buds can take maximum effect.
DIY Lipstick.
Wonder where you can find that perfect lipstick color?
Don’t bother looking and just make it yourself.
All you need are the relevant colors and a trip down memory lane to art class.
Eye-shadow pigments and balm is as effective combination as any other.
When it comes to your beauty routine, it is all in the fine print.
These tricks might seem as though they are as simple as they come, and they are.
But, the small details make a very big difference. Try a few!
