This blog post was written in partnership with G2O Spa + Salon however all of the below thoughts and opinions are mine alone.
Finding the right fit when it comes to a stylist and salon is something I have struggled with my entire life.
Is the location convenient to where I live and work and is there parking? Are the hours accommodating to my schedule and do I feel intimidated when I first enter?
My six-month partnership with the salon at G2O has certainly made me think about the process and what’s most important when considering a new salon (if you’re wondering, yes I have indeed found my hair home at G2O which is a MASSIVE relief!)
What is the Online Booking Experience Like?
These days it’s much more convenient to book your appointments on the go while it’s on your mind (if I don’t do it right away, I’ll definitely forget!)
Take a look at not only the services offered, but what is the online experience like and what is the cancellation policy? Be sure it makes sense with the potential shifts within your schedule!
G2O allows you to receive appointment reminders via text (and even book via text during salon hours) which is so helpful and when your receive your email confirmation, it’s easy to add the appointment to your calendar via mobile!

This is a place you’ll be spending a good deal of consistent time at so make sure you feel comfortable!
I immediately felt the positivity during my consultation with Nadja at G2O Salon where we talked not only about where I hoped to venture with styles, but my entire hair history.
Knowing she had a 360 view of my hair health and routine made me feel incredibly confident in how aligned our visions were.
I also love that G2O places a warm, relaxing aromatherapy towel under your neck during shampoos which elevates that step of your hair appointment to a spa-like experience!
Be Sure Your Stylist Can Grow With You
I worked with Nadja to increase my hair and scalp health, figuring out which protective styles were a fit for daily wear but also on my vacations!
I did routine relaxers and weaves for my daily office style but we switched things up prior to our trip to Puerto Rico when I wanted something lower maintenance that would hold up in the water.
Nadja coached me on which leave-in-conditioner to use in order to keep my braids in good shape throughout the trip and set my expectations on how long the full appointment would take so I could schedule all other things around it as needed.
Don’t be shy (especially during that first consultation) in letting your stylist know what you’d like now but also six months down the road! I am looking to eventually transition into a more natural style and knowing that I was setting the groundwork to do set my mind at ease.
