This blog post was created in partnership with Scotties Facial Tissues, all of the following thoughts and opinions are my own.
We’re all embracing the holiday season a little differently this year and that has prompted me to find a bit more comfort in my festive touches around our home.
I decided to fully lean into a more relaxed approach that puts comfort first and incorporates a great deal of warmth.
Below are three things I kept in mind when decorating for the holidays:
Consider Placing Trees in Less Conventional Areas
We have not always had the space to enjoy multiple Christmas trees but after our recent move, we now have almost tripled our indoor and outdoor square footage!
Holiday decor should not be relegated to just the living room and kitchens, consider styling a smaller tree in your bedroom or office.
This year I have a miniature version in my office and I love the cheer it provides while I’m working during the day!
Add Festive Scents to Your Home
I love holiday scents like fir, citrusy clove, and roasted chestnut but I limit myself to using them only during the holiday season to maintain that special feeling I attribute to them.
Make your home smell more like the holidays using candles or boiling a nice big pot of cinnamon, the citrus of your choice, sticks of vanilla, whole cloves, and ginger!
A natural potpourri, this concoction can simmer on your stove all day and make your home smell just like Christmas.
Swap in Accessories With Cozy & Festive Textures and Patterns
This is one of my favorite easy ways to create a more festive look to any room in my home!
Use festive pillowcases, burlap table runners, seasonal art and more functional items like decorative tissue boxes to add both color and cozy festive vibes.
Scotties recently introduced eight new limited-edition boxes designed by interior designer Genevieve Gorder that are stylish yet subtle no matter your holiday decor style!
The collection includes nature-inspired textures like birchwood, cozy knits, and even festive metallics to brighten up any coffee table, sideboard, countertop, or mantle (because during winter months, can you ever have enough tissues on hand?)
Here’s wishing you a wonderful and cozy holiday season whether you decide to go all out with decorations or just keep it simple this year.
We can all find small ways to add a bit of a festive feel to our homes.
