Though I stayed and dined at the following properties free of charge, my words are always true to my experiences
After my first guide to staycationing in Boston, here is a followup with a few more reasons you should be considering a Boston staycation during our cities most beautiful season.
I recently wrapped up another round of staycations and it was fun to play tourist in one of our cities hottest new hotels.
Below are my top 5 reasons why every Boston girl should take a staycation in our own city.
To Experience Environmentally Conscious Hospitality
Element in the Seaport provides one of the most unique home away from home experiences in Boston.
Focused on contributing to sustainability in the energy conservation efforts in each room, commitment to recycling, incorporation of low VOC interior paints, and use of recycled materials in carpets, Element is the dream haven for the green goddess (and her family.)
Healthy breakfasts each morning include housemade granola, fresh fruits and juices, dairy alternatives and more.
Taking healthy living to a whole new level, Element offers guests access to the restore gourmet panty.
Chock full of healthy ingredients, artisanal cheeses, nutritious snacks and ready-to-go meals.
Smoothies, tea, gelato and specialty sodas round out their array allowing guests to create their own meals within the kitchen provided en suite (my favorite detail.)
Your Furry Friends are Welcome
Hotels like Aloft (Seaport) and The Charles (Cambridge) provide accommodations for owners and their beloved sidekicks.
If you’re like me, traveling is always a welcomed part of my annual schedule with the only deterrent being how much we miss our pets!
Be Calculating in Your Getaway
Sometimes we truly needs to disconnect completely (I wouldn’t suggest a staycation in this instance.)
A staycation allows you to immerse yourself in a new environment while still maintaining the things you love about your daily life.
Allowing you to pop over to the pharmacy to pickup your allergy medicine, or attend your favorite Pure Barre class on Newbury.
The Godrey is located in one of the most prime locations (Downtown Crossing) which allows you to slip out for dinner at Yvonne’s, shop downtown, or head out for drinks and live music at Bostonia Public.
Staying downtown can seem a bit daunting if you’re looking for a quieter setting, but the staff at the Godfrey have a way of making you feel at home in a very modern environment.
Head over to the Common for a picnic, or to Off the Common for a delicious bite in the Park Plaza (delightful lobster rolls!) If you’re looking for an amazing steak look no further than Strip (pro tip: they have both a bloody mary and mimosa bar at brunch.)
All of the appeal of disconnecting in a more calculated way (and return back to slip into Frette sheets, a plush robe and slippers.)
To See Boston as Tourists Do
While exploring the city, or even entering or exiting the hotel, many will consider you an out of towner. It’s almost a relief to surround yourself with people from different pockets of the US (or world.)
They see our city through different eyes.
Act like a tourist to see the places that have long lingered on your to-visit list without having to deal with the daily hassles of finding parking or avoiding real tourists on Hanover.
The Food, The Local Food
Hotel Marlowe offers a beautiful picnic package complete with blanket, basket, and adorable vintage cruiser bicycles. Enjoy lunch by the water, followed by a easy bike ride to see all that Cambridge has to offer before 5pm guest happy hour!
While a staycation can seem a bit frivolous, I have to admit I have begun to look forward to them.
Each brings is a different experience, new perspective and a chance to learn more about my city and arrive back home refreshed.
