Now is a great time of year to be thinking about your home interiors. Many people like to have a spring and fall clean each year. But sometimes our decor needs a little more than a clean.
Or maybe you’re just ready for a change. If you’re looking for some tips and ideas to inspire you to refresh your home, why not try some of these:
Living Room
It is often the floors of the living room that start to look worn first. We entertain in there, hang out with the kids, relax and unwind. If you have carpet, it’s probably seen a lot of feet!
The standard for the past several seasons has been beautiful hardwood flooring. The wood stays warm in winter but is refreshingly cool in summer.
Add a soft rug with a vibrant pattern to create a great accent for the room. Choose a strong color to match your accent wall or wall art choices. Finish with some small cushions from the same palette.
Kitchen
If you love having a clean, fresh kitchen, then this could be the season to replace your kitchen tiles. You can get all your floor, wall and splash tiles from places like the tile markets to save you having to shop around.
It’s easier to find tiles that compliment each other that way. As with the living room, choose an accent color for your splash tiles. You may also want a color running through any pattern of your other tiles or worktops that flows well and creates an overall pleasing aesthetic.
Bathroom
If you’re planning to replace your bathroom this year, then now could be the ideal time to start shopping for what you need. If you have a panel bath, it may be easier just to replace the panel.
It costs very little but can freshen up the room straight away. Redoing the tiling is a great way to create that new look for a bathroom. Maybe some new faucets or taps aren’t beyond your DIY skills (though they are certainly beyond mine so kudos to you!)
Bedroom
The quickest and easiest way to create a new fresh look for the bedroom is to change the bedding covers. Pick a great accent color that you can use as part of your theme. You can also add a new rug, drapes and cabinet cloth to pick up that same accent tone.
If you’re painting the room, why not change the wardrobe doors and cabinet handles too? That way the whole room will feel fresh and new with very little effort.
Dining Room
Dining rooms are great places for trying out new color styles. You can pick up table runners cheaply and easily to inspire you for your next can of paint.
Then pick two opposite walls with this bold color. The other two walls can then be painted a complementary neutral tone to keep the room light and airy.
Think about changing the fabric on your dining room seat and accent pillow covers for another smaller project you can outsource.
Painting, decorating and interior design are fun activities to do at home when you have the time. But if you don’t have a lot of time or budget this season, try some of these easier and cheaper ideas.
How do you plan to refresh for Spring?

March 21, 2016These are some good ideas! I get so bored with the look of my home so often that I’m always trying to re-arrange furniture and what-not. I didn’t even think to buy new bedding! (:

March 23, 2016I plan on buying some new towels and rugs for the bathrooms. I already bought a new shower curtain ($10!) in a cute spring color and a new bath mat to coordinate. I love adding pops of color with pillows in the living room too.
