I just returned from an amazing ski trip up north (Vermont) with my boyfriend and his close group of friends.
Amazing food, great skiing at Okemo and Killington, delicious cocktails, endless memories.
Upon returning home I immediately began dreaming up our next adventure (and he texted me about a travel deal he saw to Barcelona.) So glad we’re on the same page.
There are a great many things I would forgo to instead save for travel and amazing experiences.
When wanderlust hits, it can be bittersweet. Not only are you instantly excited to travel, but you’re also inundated with the feeling of wanting to do it now.
When in reality, due to work commitments and a planned budget, you just can’t.
That’s where a bucket list comes in. If you love to travel, you probably already have one but if you’ve not started one yet, now’s the time.
Your list might be full of the destinations you’ve always wanted to visit, but there’s always room for more – right?
If you’ve still got space, these are the experiences you should be adding to the top of your list.
City Break
Though you may be a small town girl like myself, if you love to travel, you can learn to love city travel (even if you currently live in a city!)
Our next destination in Austin, which I am thrilled to explore more for the food, music and more.
Depending on where you’re heading, heading to a city can offer a different type of excitement and experiences that no other form of travel can offer.
It might be time for you to note down your favorite cities across the country, or even around the world, and hit them all!
Snow Stay
The freshness snowy climates provides can be a welcomed change if you’re more prone to taking only warm weather vacations.
Search for a location with accommodation that seems ideal for you, like snowmass rentals, and go from there.
Island Paradise
If you could pick one dream destination, the chances are that it would be rather warm and feature deep blue views.
If you’ve always wanted to experience paradise, maybe it’s time that you added and island visit to your bucket list?
As a start, the Caribbean Islands are more than ideal. You have a range of options to choose from that suit any budget and allow you to tailor the experience you’re looking for.
Cabin Life
Sometimes, travel can signify faraway lands, exotic cuisines, and life-changing cultural experiences. But, it doesn’t always have to.
There’s no reason why travel shouldn’t instead provide you more quiet, serenity of nature. That’s exactly what you get when you think about spending time in a beautiful cabin.
You can choose from a range of locations, some remote and some part of a community and take time out to explore that corner of the world.
I love HomeAway for these sorts of getaways!
Staycation
And then, finally, we have something that you may never have considered. A staycation!
Staycationing can be just as fun as traveling to the other side of the globe. If you’ve never explored your town or city, or those close by, now’s your chance.
Just because you live near to somewhere, it doesn’t mean that it’s any less amazing!
As a relaxing celebration for my boyfriend (we accomplished a lot in 2016), I booked us a luxe staycation at one of the nicest hotels Boston has to offer.
Stay tuned for details of our stay and of course the food and best of luck in your travel planning for 2017!
