Though I may mention it constantly, I have never been so excited and motivated after
starting my new career about a month ago at a fantastic startup in Boston.
Now having a longer commute, startup hours and regular evening
networking events means finding time to workout is a bit more difficult.
After perusing Yahoo Health, here are a few ways I have managed to
maintain a busier schedule while actually losing those last few pesky pounds.

1. Make it a priority. If you vow to live a healthy existence, you have to
keep it in the forefront of your mind constantly.
This means incorporating one healthy habit at a time. Drinking more water, more sleep,
daily vitamins, extra fruits and vegetables, cutting your sugar or refined carbohydrates.
2. Don’t over-complicate things. High-end cleanses or fancy gym memberships are not essential.
When I began my new job I lost access to the private gym at my last office yet temporarily
replaced some of my cardio with 1.5 walks to/from the office each morning and evening.

3. Stay accountable. I track my daily miles with a FitBit, eat a clean and mainly raw diet which keeps my energy high and long-standing. Making me a literal powerhouse.
4. Limit not eliminate indulgences. A life without a little sweet morsel here and
there or glass of bubbly is well, just darned boring and in my opinion, not sustainable.
In order to succeed, we must make concessions and be realistic.
Decadence can also be healthy like these 6 Chia Seed Dessert Recipes.
5. Switch it up. Repetitive activity is a bore and will inhibit your progress.
As I got acclimated to my new neighborhood I found a gym just a few doors down
from the office, took frequent power-walks during lunch and popped into
an occasional spin class, run on weekend and dance (badly) daily.
Keep things fresh and exciting and you will continue to enjoy being active.
How do you stay fit while maintaining a busy schedule?

October 29, 2014I find a small block of spare time every day and keep it written into my schedule so that it's hanging out on my calendar/to-do list–then I can't forget about it! π If I can't make it to the actual gym, I'll sometimes do body-weight exercises (e.g. pushups, squats, lunges) when I have a spare moment!

October 29, 2014#3 is key for me, if I don't track it I don't do it! It's the old saying from business "you get what you measure." Holds true in non-work life too.

October 29, 2014Great tips!!! I have been trying to eat clean and work out everyday. It's hard with all the candy floating around the office these days.

November 3, 2014Thank you Mree, it sounds like you're doing a wonderful job (and I agree, that and all the baked goodies!) xo

October 29, 2014These are great ways to stay fit – I think when you start a new job that's when it's hardest to workout and get all the stuff that you were able to get done, in to your new routine!! I lost my fitbit a little while back and since then have just tracked steps with my iphone, but a new one is on my wish list!

November 3, 2014You could not be more right Biana! I lost my FitBit during traveling and they actually replaced it at no cost. You should reach out to their customer service department, it's amazing xo

October 29, 2014Great tips! I want a fitbit! I've been thinking about getting one for a while and it might be time. I totally agree with not over complicating workouts. Being active, having home dance parties, going for walks with your friends or loved ones instead of sitting on the couch, those are amazing ways to get off your booty and get moving.

November 3, 2014Thank you Candace, I highly recommend the FitBit – I love mine π

October 29, 2014I try to include veggies into my meal any way I can. #4 is a huge one for me too. I did weight watchers a few years ago, and having extra points for a treat was really nice. π

November 3, 2014It definitely helps you feel like you're not being deprived π

October 30, 2014I'm still learning how balance clean eating, exercising and having a little bit of fun (or wine) here and there. I meal plan every week and then use My Fitness Pal to track macros. Also, chocolate chia seed pudding is my favorite treat when I want something sweet, but still want to be healthy!

November 3, 2014Wow Jill you sound incredibly disciplined, I think I could take a page from you! And one of my favorite snacks is CocoBeet's Vanilla Chia pudding too!

November 2, 2014I adore your use of the term #girlboss! My team and I (over)use it constantly–but it is such an empowering title!! These are great tips! I got my hubs the fitbit for his Birthday in May and have been exceedingly jealous not to have my own since then. Good thing MY Birthday is coming up next month!
