This post was created in partnership with Society of Grownups however all of the information you’ll find below are my honest thoughts and (potentially unwelcome) opinions.
Don’t be mistaken by the title of this post, I am a ripe 30 years of age but even at 30 we aren’t always prepared for the more grownup choices we have to make.
Whether it be purchasing our first home, filing our taxes for the first year as a full-time freelancer or navigating investment options when securing the future of our budding families. These are not choices to make lightly and require all types of guidance and certainly lots of research.
I was fortunate (and grateful) when Society of Grownups reached out to offer me the opportunity to participate in one of their upcoming workshops.
Society of Grownups Provides Resources
For those of us attempting to “adult” and all in an approachable setting among peers struggling with many of the same decisions.
It was comforting to hear the other bloggers sitting around the table echoing many of the same sentiments regarding saving, reaching major financial milestones, and other financial quandaries.
Located in one of the most gorgeous spots of Brookline on Beacon Street, the atmosphere at Society of Grownups makes the task at hand much less counting.
Their Blog is a Collection of Sound Advice
From tips on traveling solo, to inspirational stories of other freelancers that have taken the plunge. They have actionable items you can begin taking now.
We are Currently in the Era of the Side Hustle.
Most of us don’t want to work the traditional 9-to-5 office job, and we’re already pulling in revenue from our passion projects.
One of my proudest moments
Was the month I generated more income from my side hustle (this blog) than I make at my full-time job. That was the first moment I realized, a lot is possible when you continue to pursue your dreams out of passion instead of pure revenue.
Whether you need help juggling the many duties a small business owners tend to, or guidance in approaching your financial standpoint from a short or long term perspective, Society of Grownups has the resources and professionals to help you on your way.
That workshop opened a new door to me and led me to think about the many aspects I would need to consider if planning to move in a dramatically different direction, making it seem more attainable even.
A Team of Certified Financial Planner’s
Who also have a genuine passion for helping others understand and navigate the financial landscape strategically while creating a personalized plan. It’s empowering!
As millennial’s, our generation is seen as too dependent on technology which if you think about it, is pretty unfair. Technology was thrust upon us, and is now something that we are using to our advantage.
Impatient and entitled they say? I would say efficient in a way those before us without this technology were able. What most of us can agree upon is we entered and left college during a very scary period of the market. The job prospects for slim and financial opportunities and events we witnesses almost daily made our outlook seem bleak.
We saw the opportunity technology afforded us, but we also saw how it could be used to avoid many of the struggles we watched our parents endure. If you’ve ever thought about pursuing your passion project now isn’t the time to be hesitating.
There’s no better time to take that step than when you’re young, more free of serious financial obligation, and let’s face it, still pretty darned optimistic.
Take a peek at Society of Grownups and see how some of their classes can help you in your future endeavors no matter what they be. Tell them Georgina sent you.
XOXO
