Even if you love the taste of veggies, you might struggle to add them to so many of your meals each day.
Thankfully, there are loads of ways you can sneakily add some vegetables to meals that you would never have thought could include these healthy additions!
Here are my favorite ways of giving my diet a boost with lots of veg.
Start Your Day With A Frittata
There is no better breakfast than one which contains lots of eggs. All the eggs will have plenty of protein to help you feel a lot fuller through the day.
And that means a lot less snacking! But there is also another great benefit of cooking yourself a healthy frittata each morning.
And that is that you can throw in whatever kinds of veggies you want! Peppers, tomatoes, and olives all work really well in frittatas. If you make a large one, you can portion it up and save some for later if you get a bit peckish.
If you like your eggs so much, you will probably try and find other ways you can add vegetables to them – after all, frittatas aren’t the only way you can enjoy your morning eggs.
If you like yours scrambled, you will be happy to hear that this is another great form for adding veggies too.
For example, chop up some cooked cauliflower and add it to the pan while you are scrambling.
You can also do the same with some finely chopped broccoli to help increase your daily intake of vitamin B!
Juice Your Vegetables
Another great way to add more vegetables to your diet is to juice them to create delicious juices and smoothies.
You will need a juicer for this so that you get all the goodness out of each piece of veg, and you can find out which ones are the best on review sites including HealthyButSmart.com.
Then you just need a couple of juice recipes to get you started! There are an endless number of these kinds of recipes online.
Once you start to build up your confidence and start to understand how flavors work, you can then move on to create your own exciting drinks.
Make Your Pancakes Out Of Bananas
Did you know that you can make pancakes out of just eggs and bananas? There are plenty of recipes for pancakes that rely on bananas instead of unhealthy carbs.
You can see one online here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FA9Z7vvRIw. Basically, all you need to do is mash up a couple of ripe bananas and then mix in two eggs.
You can then add some spices for flavor, such as cinnamon or nutmeg. Then simply fry in coconut oil. And that is it! You’ll have perfect pancakes that are packed full of healthy banana!
Size Up Your Sides
When you are planning your meals for the day, you will no doubt think about the different side dishes you can enjoy alongside them.
Especially if you are wondering what to have for dinner!
Well, as side dishes are often vegetable based, one top tip is to increase the sizes of these sides and reduce the size of your main meal.
That way, you will be including a lot more veggies into your main meals each day.
Don’t Forget About Herbs
Did you know that herbs count towards your vegetable intake? Fresh herbs that is! So remember to add lots of fresh herbs to each dish that you make.
You can even sprinkle some chopped ones on top as a garnish. They will go great with any pasta or rice dish, but you can also add them to eggs and sandwiches.
Not only will they add lots of great nutrients, but they will also help your dish burst with flavor.
Mix Up Your Potatoes
If you want to have potatoes with a meal, don’t just choose regular ones.
You should mix them up with some sweet potatoes too, as this will maximize the number of nutrients you get.
If you are mashing potatoes, simply mash both kinds together as they blend really well. Ideally, the ratio should be 1:1.
Make Bulky Burgers
You can bulk up your homemade burgers by adding lots of veggies to them. For example, when you are mixing together all your mince, stir in some grated carrot or courgette to the mixture.
In fact, whenever you are making a meal with ground meat, you can always throw in a handful of grated veg.
No matter who you serve the finished dish to, they won’t be able to tell you’ve hidden some extra veggies in there!
