Another Year Older

For many people, birthdays inspire a period of reflection.

I awoke the day of 28th birthday in a panic due to a nightmare that my boyfriend, 

my best friend and life partner had been suddenly taken from me.

The dream was so realistic that even after seeing his face and being awake 

for several minutes I was still on the verge of tears.

The realization that formed could not have been any clearer. 

Mainly of what and who has become important in my life. 

We spent the rest of the day with my parents before attending mass held at my childhood church 

where my priest greeted me warmly saying “It is SO wonderful to see you again!”

With every year that passes, I am shown how fortunate I am. 

I am rewarded for the long hours and tireless efforts.

My dreams have begun forming into the most amazing and beautiful reality, making me so happy I could cry.

Another year. Another absolute miracle.
