It has been pretty hot out there lately hasn’t it Boston? The ever-rising temps are more than enough to make any girl want to live on top of the AC vent until autumn (or have central.)
There are plenty of ways to beat the heat that are a lot more fun. Whether you’re relaxing on the Envoy or Colonnade’s roof-decks, enjoying ice cream at Amorino or taking some much needed time to shop for cool weather clothes.
Included is shoe shopping, which is arguably the some of the most fun shopping you can do.
If you’re in the market to kill some time out of the sun, check out a few of these shoe trends that you need to add to your collection this summer.
Mules
Mules have been in and out of popularity since the 1950s. They’re a backless, slipper-style shoe, complete with varying heel thickness and height. Recent designs first reappeared back in fashion during the fall 2015 runway shows, and continue to be a standout shoe today.
If you look at the featured heels on Lyst that are trending, you can find plenty of mules from some of the top designers around the world. The versatility of the simple structure makes them a great outlet for creativity.
You can find pairs adorned with giant bows, sequins, suede, snakeskin effects—the works. That being said, a neutral pair will go with the majority of your outfits, but when you’re presented with an opportunity to grab a pair of extremely stylish heels that you can also have fun with, why play it safe?
Casual Sneakers
According to an article from Shape, you need a pair of casual white sneakers in your closet. These aren’t your gym shoes.
They’re leather or suede sneakers that are slim, stylish, and more suitable for a night out on the town than an afternoon on the treadmill. It’s no wonder they’re a favorite among big names like Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid.
The effortless trend looks fabulous when paired with everything from a maxi skirt or sundress to a pair of skinny jeans or denim shorts—bonus points if the denim is a fun color like a citrus shade or bold purple hue.
Lace Up Sandals
That’s right, lace up sandals and gladiators are just as popular today as they were five years ago. As soon as they start to fade away, they reappear on the feet of a celebrity and they’re instantly back in the spotlight again. At this point, I think it’s safe to say that this trend has staying power.
As explained in an E! Online post, the shoe has multiple benefits. The strappy, skin-baring shape makes your legs look longer and leaner. They look just as great completing a casual outfit of shorts and a tunic as they do finishing off a upscale, glamorous sundress.
Better still, the style can be used on a flat, a pencil heel, or a block heel. Grab the pair that fits your look best and feel free to rock them well into the fall.
There’s always room for dessert and more shoes. This summer, treat yourself to some ice cream, and a few new pairs of summer shoe styles to make the most of the season. They could be just the pick me up you need to beat the heat!

August 9, 2016I really love the lace up sandals, however, I don’t own any. Fall is almost here so maybe I can score some for a good deal!
