Being a marketer and now officially, a business owner, I am on the constant hunt for products, services and apps to maximize my time and efficiency.
Podcasts, audio whitepapers, courses, you name it, I’ve devoured it.
One thing I didn’t realize I had overlooked in terms of convenience, was my wardrobe. That’s where Armoire comes in.
Today’s modern woman…
Goes from the gym, to the boardroom, to dinner or any event where hands are shaken, and future partnerships are born.
That delicate dance, though necessary to maintain a high level of performance, can become tiresome if subtle improvements aren’t consistently being introduced.
So when I learned more about Armoire, a service started by some of best and brightest at MIT, I had a laundry list of questions before diving in.
Lucky for you, below are the Cliff Notes gathered from my first (wonderful) experience with the team.
What is Armoire?
A high end apparel rental service for the busy, modern woman.
Tailored to your style and your needs whether it be at your desk or while you’re out at dusk.
Though the contents of your beautifully wrapped subscription package will help you slay the startup scene in style, one of my dresses was perfect for the sunset cruise I hosted with some of my friends Friday evening.
What is the process like?
First you fill out your style profile, letting the fashionable powers that be know what colors, silhouettes, prints and designers you love and which you avoid.
Based on that, you will receive four recommended items which you can elect to accept and receive, or swap for others (providing feedback as to why those weren’t right, to improve future recommendations.)
When you’re ready for your next four items, send them back in a pre-paid shipping bag and approve your next delivery.
Insider tip: your items arrive by courier at a time you specify. I had just returned from a struggle session workout and looked quite the mess when my buzzer downstairs sounded.
So I was a bit taken aback when I realized all of my beautiful clothes were being delivered by an equally beautiful man. You’re welcome.
How is it different from Rent the Runway or other existing subscription services?
Armoire provides gorgeous pieces that are office appropriate yet stylish enough to transition into after work events. Very much like a personal shopper, the selections are curated around your tastes and preferences.
Insider tip: one thing I loved about Armoire, is they ask you about not just one event, but what do you have during that entire week?
This gets you thinking and preparing about where you need to be and how to stop everyone in their tracks when you arrive.
What kind of clothes can I expect?
Expect top names of the best quality, my first box included DVF, Vince, Yumi Kim and Milly.
Armoire also works to include up and coming designers, providing you the chance to infuse a bit of edge while supporting budding talent.
Over time, Armoire’s algorithm collects data from your feedback, improving the recommendations without any additional work from you!
Can I buy a piece I fall in love with?
You may, often at a discounted price (dependent on the availability of course!)
My thoughts:
Armoire is the perfect solution to again, a problem most of us didn’t realize we had.
Our closets never seem to hold the fashion inspiration we are so desperately in search of nor do we want to fill it to the brim, only to have to spend hours reorganizing and dry cleaning.
My #1 Reason for Loving Armoire: convenience.
Taking the tiresome task of shopping out of the equation and providing pieces from current collections means no trying to find parking, battling other shoppers, enduring fitting room struggles, or wavering over return policy uncertainties.
You pick, it’s delivered, you return, they dry clean.
No need to buy extra hangers, or wonder if a dress is too much for the office. They’ve done it for us gals.
So get out there, upgrade your wardrobe and dress like the #bosslady that you are!
