I love trying new products, talking to beauty industry insiders/professionals
and am on a constant quest to find better methods and products
for application and daily maintenance.
As always, take my advice with a grain of salt,
consult with professionals and do what is right for you!
Never Sleep with Your Makeup On
Sleeping in your makeup can set you back so much, I can’t even tell you how bad it is.
I have fallen asleep in my makeup once or twice and instantly regretted it (often after a night out.)
I looked like a different person! My skin was uneven, definitely not as smooth.
Overall it was just awful. It takes a lot of time and effort to get your skin back to the pristine
condition it was in before, so please don’t make this mistake.
Always Cleanse, Tone, and Moisturize
Always cleanse, tone, and moisturize (as often as you’re able, we all have had those nights.
Maintain this regimen in the morning and at nighttime before you go to bed.
If you’ve worn makeup or you feel your skin is particularly dirty, do a double cleanse.
Only use products that suit your skin though, or you could make things worse.
I like to use a serum as well (but will blog about my current cleansing routine
soon as I have been trying out some new products lately)
Use Contouring to Change Your Face Shape
I love this contouring, but it can take some practice. Use contouring and you can change your face shape. You can literally create the perfect face shape with the help of contouring. Invest in good quality brushes and sponges and some decent makeup and you’re good to go!
Get in front of the computer with a mirror and find a good YouTube tutorial and practice away.
Invest in Quality (Brushes That Is!)
I know I mentioned this before, but it is important! Real Techniques brushes have become
wildly popular and are pretty good for beginners (as well as all budgets),
as there are tutorials on how to use them online.
I am always experimenting with new brands, brushes and techniques.
Always keep them clean and you won’t transfer bacteria to your skin!
I have a Vegan friendly natural brush cleaner recipe being posted soon.
Know Your Skin Type
Know your skin type so you don’t end up harming it with the wrong products.
Ask a beauty professional if you’re unsure!
I have really sensitive skin and am prone to irritation if the products are too drying.
Visit a Professional
Have a problem that you feel you can’t fix yourself? Visit a professional and see if they can help.
Loose facial skin can be an issue for many women due to ageing ,
so if it is making you self conscious,go and do something about it!
Having worked in the spa industry during college I know that there are a lot of non surgical
options that work, and most beauty salons offer a multitude of facials that
stimulate collagen production and leave your skin feeling rejuvenated after.
Don’t Touch Your Face
I know it is tempting but, touching your face is the quickest way to transfer bacteria,
so avoid it where possible. If you have a particularly stubborn blemish, try steaming
your face first (or after a hot shower/bath) to open your pores.
Eat Your Fruit & Vegetables
I find a lot of people comment on how good my skin is when I am eating a mainly raw diet
(fruits, veggies, juices) and I truly believe that it has a lot to do with
eating vegetables every day with every meal.
I know it sounds like a lot, but you must do it for your health even if you are not a veggie!
There are a few ways you can make your vegetables tastier if you can’t bear them.
Get Lots of Sleep
Get 7-8 hours a night and you should wake up glowing after a while. Get into a routine
by going to bed at the same time and getting up at the same time.
There are even apps that can help you to do this!
Everyone has those stressful times, weeks in which there are events every evening or a few days
prior to a major presentation or work deadline. But making a serious commitment
to getting your sleep is what will ultimately improve every area of your life.
What are some of your favorite beauty tips?

June 5, 2015These are amazing tips!!! I was told when I was teenager that every night you sleep with your makeup on, you age 10 years… I don't know if that's true, but it scared me enough to never do it! I will admit to not cleaning my makeup brushes as often as I should. I think the biggest change in my skin came when I gave up dairy and chocolate. I'd heard that it would make my skin clearer, but I didn't really believe it until it tried it!
Kisses,
Sarah
