When I began my blog, it was merely an anonymous safe place for me to share
my writing without fear of personal judgment. What it turned into,
was a source of inspiration to live a life worth documenting.
As bloggers we are realizing how important it is to utilize whatever amount of influence
we have, for something far beyond ourselves, dare I say.. the greater good?
On this vein, I am thrilled to announce my participation in the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai to support the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute on September 27th!
Cancer effects each and every one of us in some form and I personally have had
someone infinitely close to me treated (with the best of care) at Dana-Farber.
In my full-time job I work within the content marketing industry and focus
a great deal on writing, blogs, marketing materials and more.
In May we held our first inaugural Content Marketing Conference that hosted a wide spectrum of industry experts in the fields of; SEO, content marketing, distribution and even neuromarketing!
Most meaningful was the Charity Lost Ball tournament my CEO holds each year (which took place in Las Vegas during our conference) to raise money for The Jimmy Fund.
My CEO (Byron White) also battled cancer in 1992 and was treated at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, now having raised more than $100,000 to date for cancer research.
About The Walk:
We all hear the word marathon and immediately balk.
There are four different routes walkers can choose from!
* Hopkington: 26.3 miles
* Wellesley: 13.1 niles
* Boston College: 5 miles
* Dana-Farber: 3 miles
All routes end at the Copley Square finish-line with
a celebration that includes live music and food.
The money raised by this walk is vital to consistent care, support and research on behalf
of the cancer patients coming from near and far for treatment at Dana Farber.
Should you want to get involved, please register here
(and use discount code BLOG to get $5 off your registration!)
You do not have to live in Boston to participate, there is also a Virtual Walker option!
With the wonderful work of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute,
one day we hope to be able to live in a cancer-free world.
What organizations do you hold close to your heart?
Thank you for your time and support!
