with the beautiful Maria and guest |
After being fortunate enough to attend Boston Medical Center’s Catwalk for Cancer Care fundraiser earlier on this year; I was ecstatic to get a phone call from BMC’s Sr. Family Philanthropy Officer: Maria.
After chatting a bit, Maria extended an invitation for me to join the event planning
committee for the Boston Center for Refugee Health & Human Rights.
The BMC Refugee Center provides medical, mental and dental care along with legal
and social services to more than 400 individuals from 70 countries each year.
Additionally, interpreter services are made available for over thirty languages to
aid each patient in their healing and ability to obtain work here in America.

It was a wonderful evening to support those that need it so dearly.
I was touched to learn that many of the refugees that have gone on to successfully
find work and flourish within the community always come back to donate whatever
amount they are able. For some of them it is a few hard earned dollars.

Thank you to all of you that provided your support whether you were able
to attend or not. Some of you bloggers even made it!
A special thanks to Karla Cassidy who provided the most beautiful
arrangements and created the most stunning Wishing Tree;
enabling guests to artfully donate some of the most essential of items.
Thank you to all of the generous sponsors that were too good to us;
Blank Label (who was beyond generous and continues to give), BeStyled,
Olives & Grace, Soul Cycle, PlateJoy and of course The Beehive!
The Boston Medical Center is teaming with some of the most remarkable women
I have ever met. That evening and all of the moments leading up to it with
my lovely committee members were so special.
For an evening I was part of something so much bigger than myself.
What a humbling experience indeed.
What event did you recently attend that was close to your heart?
