Starbucks+Siggs: I allow myself one coffee in the morning. Where I used to drink foamy soy lattes daily, I have switched to plain bold coffee with a pump of whatever flavor I am craving that day and cold soy. Its both less expensive and a fair amount less calories. Win win! My Siggs water bottle is cute and functional, not only does it have a cover (pink at that) to shield the mouth piece from whatever harms of the environment, but it is so durable that even clumsy G can’t break it. And it does not change the taste of my water.
My Blackberry 8900: whether I’m texting, tweeting, emailing clients, getting my morning fashion inspiration from WhoWhatWear.com or checking the weather, this phone is.my.life. Stuck in an airport when forced to travel commercial? I have the short covers app so I can select a new bestseller to read while my memory card is chock full music so I can tune out the crying baby four seats down. Some of my favorite apps:
Personal Assistant: It helps me check the balances on all my bank accounts and credit cards, see my minute usage for the month on my cell, my netflix queue, book travel arrangements and soooo much more!
I Heart Radio: because sometimes you’d rather listen to techno in NY or hiphop in Hotlanta.
UberTwitter: I doubt this needs an explanation.
Personal Budget Manager: I know. Me? A Budget? It hasn’t worked out in the past but I’m a new woman. A full-time employee with a good salary and no rent to pay. So all income and expenses goes in here and I can track how much I’m spending and on what. Makes me feel a bit guilty when over 40 percent of my expenditures are in the “Pleasure/Entertainment/DoNotNeed” category…
MAC’s Mineralize Satinfinish Foundation in NW45: my face always looks naturally flawless with this barely there coverage and as I have in the past, if I am too tired/drunk to wash it off – no break outs in the morning. It also has SPF15 in it. Always a plus.
Carita’s “Progressif Anti-Age Solaire” protecting and correcting eye contour suncare: I use this over my eye cream because it has spf 15 in it and hello I’m 23 I want these eyes sans crows feet for as long as possible (that always made me wonder, working in the beauty industry, why do women complain so much about the wrinkles they have or are worried about getting yet wear no protection around their eyes?). It also has a very light highlighting element that instantly brightens the eyes subtly. Lastly, it corrects any past damage you may have done to your eyes. Pick it up at Bella Sante.
Green eyes and pink lips: I began to love this look after my MA (makeup artist) tried it on me before a night out. I wanted a natural look and lots of bronzey-nudes and a splash of color somewhere. To achieve the look she used the Photo Realism Eyeshadow palette and “Lovin it” Lustre lipstick topped with “Personal Taste” lipglass described as a “Dirty rose with pink and gold pearl.” I then saw it on Stephanie Pratt while she was getting her nails done during The Hills and loved it on her as well.
BravoTV: So trashy, so necessary. Whether its Real Housewives, my favorite gay/OCD house flipper or the newest/latest (NYC Prep etc etc), I am a bit of a faux-reality junky, time allowing.
Jeffree Starr: “Miss Boombox” and “Starstruck” are on constant replay. I love this man for his beats, lyrics and over-the-top glam.
Book of the Day: The above is my favorite book of all times. I read a great deal, one because my love for it began at such a young age (I was the first in my class to learn how to read) and when we would take vacations as a family, while shopping, my father would say to me “You can have anything in this store as long as it’s a book.” Reading for me is a way to relax and escape. I don’t think of other things when I’m reading and my studies have taken me from Nietzsche to Melville to Orwell to Socrates to even Stephen Kings short memoir. My guiltiest pleasure? Non-fiction chick-lit. Oh how typical, I know.
The Changing Season: Being a New Englander you’d think I’m used to everyone bit*hing about the first snowflakes (even if its like five). But it still irks me. I never have a problem saying so long summer, hello lovely layers of fall and then welcoming the crisp coldness of winter that prompts us to don our apres-ski boots and down jackets with the customary burberry scarf and matching beanie. And yes, that is me on the right in this picture.
