During the Summer of 2013, I joined an up and coming blogging community, Triberr.
From there I connected with dozens of bloggers and from that website,
my posts were shared by others on Twitter.
One day I saw someone named Vaughn Ripley had shared one of my posts and then begun following me. I took a look at his profile and saw that he was a published author, blogger and that Vaughn is one of the longest term survivors of HIV in addition to being a hemophiliac and having Hepatitis C.
Reading through his website Healthy Wealthy Tribe, I was absolutely blown away by his positivity (he contracted HIV and Hepatitis C through a bad blood transfusion), proactive approach to his lifestyle and his mission to give back.
It was then I decided I wanted Vaughn to mentor me through the process of creating my own health-based memoir to be released in 2014.
It is more important than ever to educate others and drive awareness about AIDS which is what Walgreens is currently doing with their Greater Than AIDS campaign.
On Wednesday, January 15th at 8-9pm EST, I will be attending the Walgreens Empowered Twitter party and invite you to join me to encourage a general discussion about the disease and prevention.
Alicia Keys created a wonderful documentary called The National Watch Party of the EMPOWERED which I also invite you to view as it is powerful and enlightening.
