As many of you well know, I consider this a lifestyle blog. However whenever I’m out, most people refer to me as aย food blogger. Perhaps because food takes such a central place in my life?
Anyways, below is a roundup of some of my favorite meals and experiences since moving neighborhoods and effectively upping my food game.
The Marketing team and Trustees behind the Boston Public Market brought a group of us on a guided tour to learn the story behind each company. Above is the remarkable setup at Taza (I want to note, Taza does not let patrons behind the glass, one of their thoughtful employees took this for me!)
The night was thoughtful, tasty and ended on a special note as we learned all about Community Servings;ย Greater Boston’sย meal delivery program for those that are home-bound due to illness, their dependents, and caregivers.
Above is a vegetable based soup Executive Chef Kevin Conner led us in making (sweet potato, lentils and more) that is an example of what would be prepared for a recipient that needs a meal with protein but low in fat and sodium. It was absolutely delicious.
Please take a moment to learn more about Community Servings and if you love to cook and meet others with similar interests, consider donating some of your time.
I recently tasted CPK’s newest Reimagined menu items including the above Fire-grilled Ribeye with Pinot Noir sea salt and topped with a creamy blue-cheese butter.
The selections are far more artisan than you would expect, like this Brussels & Bacon Flatbread with goat cheese, Romano and cracked black pepper.
A special thank you to the team at the Pru for such a wonderful experience for myself and my intern Kaylie!
Shortly thereafter, Kaylie and I brunched at Stephi’s in Southie as I am slowly eating my way through my new neighborhood. Spot on Bloody Mary’s and I enjoyed their Bloody Mary marinated steak tips with eggs and delightfully and crisply done potatoes.
In saving the best for last, I had the most amazing meal at one of my favorite restaurants; Alden & Harlow.
Named one of the top 50 new restaurants in America by Bon Appetit, Michael Scelfo is a true visionary when it comes to the palate.
When I dine out, I think of the entire experience. The setting, lighting, especially the music. Sitting in Alden & Harlow you’ll find a mix of thoughtfully eclectic students from nearby Harvard, beautifully yet casually dressed young professionals and a sprinkling of free-spirited artists.
The decor is beyond anything being done in Boston and theย music. I don’t know who is in charge of that playlist but they deserve all sorts of awards. Formation began playing at the conclusion of our meal and I almost dropped my dessert wine sweetly (dessert pun intended) sent by the kitchen.
Though many of you reading are from the Boston area, for those of you that are not and enjoy food done creatively and honestly, come to Alden & Harlow.
Alden & Harlow is just one of the many restaurants that will be at upcoming Cocktail Magic on Saturday March 26th at The Castle at Park Plaza.
Come for the food, craft cocktails, beats or the young, fun crowd. I hope to see you there!
Where have you eaten lately and tell me about the dish you most enjoyed?
