Last Friday, Kenmore’s quintessential Kenmore eatery Eastern Standard
hosted a tasting for a group of Boston food bloggers (myself clearly included.)
I began the evening with my favorite cocktail, the Belle de Jour;
a sparkling concoction of benedictine, elixir of lemon and grenadine.
Next was the Charcuterie Plate. The selection (which varies daily) that evening
was cornish hen, St. Moret goat cheese, raw cow’s milk cheese, cherries,
cornichon, summer sausage, minted lamb and appetizer sized baguettes.
The sweet, salty and savory combination was truly wonderful and well presented.
**Please excuse the ensuing phone photos – my SLR was acting up a bit
so I had to improvise with what technology was available**
In the company of knowledgeable foodies, we began to get a bit
adventurous and ordered the fried chicken livers.
Having grown up with a severe distaste for liver, though optimistic with my
evolving palette, I was so pleasantly surprised by this dish!
We were presented next with the Gouda Macaroni & Cheese. A delight for
the taste buds with a unique creamy essence and bits of guanciale
(cured pork) that lent the dish even more flavor.
Continuing on our daring culinary passage, we quickly agreed the
Roasted Bone Marrow was a dish we could not say no to.
Bursting with a variance of spice while rapidly establishing itself (to me)
as a definitive comfort food, I could not be happier to have sampled it.
Over, and over…
The evening concluded perfectly with a Butterscotch Bread Pudding
topped with praline ice cream and salted butter caramel.
It was wonderful to see Kerrie of Urban Foodie Finds, meet
the notorious @BostonAttitude and social butterfly Jen Dorman
Thank you again to Eastern Standard for accommodating our group
and especially to our particularly erudite and enthusiastic server.
She made the experience a lovely one – it is so wonderful to see people
that love what they do and truly know the ins and outs of each dish!
Which dish looks most appetizing to you!?

August 3, 2012You should definitely go, there are still lots of great vegetarian options (mushroom crepes, beet salad, or even the gouda mac and cheese sans guanciale!)

August 4, 2012That makes sense though, some people seriously detest the tomato sauce and prefer something more savory!

August 4, 2012Hi Georgina,
Your blog design is hip and visually appealing! Love the post. I'm a food blogger too, in Philly. Hopefully, I can find a food bloggers tasting invite here. Would love to meet other food bloggers in my area.
I do have a question – I have been blogging for over 3 years. I know through Google analytics and Blogger stats that I get between 50-80 visitors to Tinsel & Tine daily – 25% of that traffic are repeat visitors. But I NEVER get comments.
My posts are very similar to yours. I'm an excellent photographer, I put a lot of myself into each post and yet it's so quiet you can hear crickets. How did you cultivate so many commenters?
Visiting from SITS!
