With only a few days left until Christmas arrives, you should be almost finished with your shopping (but of course you aren’t, nor am I.)
If you’re not in those last stages, don’t panic! A lot of people will be in exactly that same situation as you and there’s still time to find that perfect gift.
Jewelry will always be a wonderful gift option to give to your wife, girlfriend or friend. But the art of buying it should not be taken lightly. There are important things you need to think about before buying any piece for that special lady in your life.
What does she wear every day?
The easiest way to get this gift wrong is by choosing something that isn’t close to her personal style. There is nothing wrong with buying her something different when she has given you prior direction as to what that difference is.
She is much more likely to wear it everyday if fit within the realm of the rest of her jewelry. For instance, if she only wears small silver hoops buying her a bold statement earring set may have you striking out and earn a forced, high-pitched “I love it…” from her.
Think about what her go-to pieces of jewelry are that she wears regularly. It could be a charm bracelet or a gold monogram necklace. You can then consider a charm or a matching bracelet to go alongside these pieces.
Also, have a look inside her jewelry chest to see if there’s anything you can add to her collection. This will be a great way of seeing what her style and tastes are. Just don’t get caught!
Go shopping together.
It’s likely that during the Christmas period that you will go shopping together at some point.
This will help you get an idea of what she likes and dislikes that will be very useful when you’re trying to find the perfect gift.
Try to divert her towards a jewelry stand and listen to the comments she makes. You could pretend you’re buying for someone else (like your mother or a close shared family friend with similar style to her), so she doesn’t know that you’re actually buying for her.
She may notice something that you hadn’t considered. If you can’t make it to the store, try and get her looking casually at jewelry sites online or show her designers work on Instagram.
This will spark her interest and get her thinking about items she likes. Again, listen to her comments and make a note of the sites before you forget.
Check her schedule.
She may have an upcoming New Year’s Eve party she’s attending or been invited to a wedding in the near future.
It could even be a date night for your anniversary. Whatever she’s got planned, why not treat her to a piece of jewelry that will perfectly compliment whatever she chooses to wear.
You could just help her fully complete her intended look and she will be grateful that you’ve assisted her in looking fabulous. If you’re unsure what she’s planning to wear, ask her closest friends for some useful insight and to help narrow down your search.
These questions are vital if you want to guarantee you buy the best jewelry gift for her. Whether it’s for the holidays or a special birthday, keep the above mentioned tips in mind when shopping around!
