While the majority of New Years’ resolutions tend to focus on finance, it is fair to say that a growing number of us are vowing to remodel our homes in 2014.
As design trends continue to change alongside our own circumstances, finding enough money to refurbish our properties is becoming increasingly prominent on our list of priorities.

Consider the impact of layout.. When it comes to remodeling , the layout that you adopt in each room has a huge impact on its visual aesthetic. This also provides you with a breathtakingly simple and cost-effective method of remodeling the space, as you can rearrange items of furniture to create a specific look or the illusion of space.
Whether this involves creating a focal point or optimizing the floor space at your disposal, the key is to be creative and visualize the look that you are trying to achieve.

Use lighting in a creative manner… The application of lighting is key to the finished look of a home and modern innovations have also provided an opportunity to save considerable sums of your hard earned money!
The fourth and fifth generations of LED light fittings, for example, which are now available in a range of styles and designs and capable of reducing your energy consumption over time.
Specialist retailers such as PreLet have also emerged to make these affordable and stylish light fittings more accessible to landlords in the UK, which ultimately cuts the financial cost and time associated with remodelling your properties.

Apply color according to a wider design theme… While modern design trends may dictate the use of two or more bold and complimentary colors within a single space, this can be expensive to buy.
If you are on a budget, you are far better served by purchasing a single, neutral color in bulk, before using low-cost accessories and materials to infuse additional shades and tones.
This will not only save you money, but it will also create a more creative living area with more alluring tones that appeal to the mass rental market.
How do you freshen up your decor?

February 2, 2014Living in a rental i can only do so much. I can only add color but buying pictures, textiles, and decor. I've even found most of my stuff from Home Goods, Goodwills, and Michaels or Targets clearance section. Colorful rugs, throw pillows, vases, and pictures is how I remodel and the best part is- it's fairly inexpensive if I ever grow tired of the look or feel to change it up.

February 3, 2014i've been switching things up a bit on a smaller scale such as changing out pillow covers, adding a few new rugs + lighting. it's crazy what a difference it makes in giving you a new look without breaking the bank!

February 3, 2014The first two photos are so awesome because they remind of an indoor/outdoor look. I want to just buy a house and decorate it without worrying about cost. Is that too much to ask for? 🙂
