Health and fitness can be a tricky subject, especially for one to bloggers to cover.
Everyone, regardless of if they have certification on the matter or not,
has different opinions on what is right and wrong.
It can be a bit tough to know who to truly listen to.
Below are a few widely-accepted tips on health/fitness to assist in preventing
that eminent holiday season weight gain.
Train your mind before training your body – Lose fat, not just “weight.”
Often times people talk about how they want to lose weight without
realizing it should not be solely about numbers on the scale.
Two people who weigh exactly the same and are the same height could look totally different due to the amount of body fat they have.
If you do wish to alter the appearance of your body, get in better shape and maintain
a healthier lifestyle, then you need to focus on losing body fat.
Weight is a combination of fat, muscle mass and water, which means you might not even get smaller regardless of whether the number on the scales has decreased.
Losing fat means you will lose inches, which you can measure with a tape measure.
When you begin to lose inches, you know that you have truly begun to lose fat.

Eat Right and Exercise. Eating right and exercising come hand in hand. You can’t exercise, eat what you want, and expect to get great results. Sure, have a cheat meal once in a while, but eat right 80% of the time. This way, you won’t deprive yourself and you’ll get great results.
Do not place too much emphasis on calorie counting. Counting calories is one way to lose weight, but as previously mentioned, weight isn’t what we want to lose.
Instead, counting your macronutrients will help you ensure you’re getting
the right amount of protein, fat, and carbs in your diet.
This will ensure that you shed the inches without losing muscle (which is what gives us definition).

Workouts Can Be Quick and Simple. Who wants to spend hours in the gym anyways!?
Workouts can be quick and simple providing you work hard enough. It’s all about intensity.
Try interval training, for example, where you work as hard as you can for about 30 seconds,
before taking a rest of about 30 secs – 1 minute.
You can do this with whatever exercises you like, from body weight exercises to sprinting.
They’ll all continue to burn fat and calories long after you’re finished.
You can get inspiration from sites such as http://www.workoutbox.com to keep your workouts fun.
Consistency is the most important aspect.
Consistency is the most crucial thing about health and fitness.
You don’t need to be perfect 100% of the time, but you should aim for 70% at the very least if you
want to change your life and be the best version of yourself. Keep going and you’ll see results!

December 29, 2014Great tips! I hope you had a nice holiday. The best things I think are 1. Avoiding processed sugar and 2. Choosing water over any other beverage. 🙂
