Wouldn’t it be wonderful if every time you returned to your bedroom it felt like a getaway to a luxury hotel? There’s nothing better than waking up in a large bed with soft white sheets and all of the little conveniences we are privy to when on the road.
Everything you could possible need is at your finger tips, and you’re surrounding by comfortable luxury.
We all tend to ignore the decor in our bedrooms after our initial decor efforts. After all, guests almost never see it, so we instead place our focus on other rooms. But it’s important to treat yourself too.
You deserve a luxurious nook to unwind in at the end of the day. Here’s how you get to look:
Linens and towels
One of the best things about staying in a luxury hotel is the soft sheets and fresh warm towels. It’s worth buying the highest thread-count sheets you can afford.
It’s such a luxury to sink into soft sheets at the end of the night. All that’s missing is a chocolate on the pillow! There’s nothing more personal that a delicate monogram, I love these hotel quality towels by Richard Haworth.
Leave them hanging over a warm towel rail for the ultimate fresh indulgence. They don’t need to cost a fortune, and it’s an easy way to treat yourself every single day.
A Large bed
Have you ever noticed that hotel beds are always much bigger than your bed at home?
The California king gives you massive amounts of room to spread out. You only notice how small a simple double-size is when you get home.
A queen size bed might fill the room, but it will give you lots of extra space to enjoy.
Put everything at your fingertips
I love it when you go to a hotel, and everything is right where you need it. There are tea and coffee making facilities right there on the side table.
You can lean out of bed, and make yourself a wake-up coffee. Why not do this in your own bedroom? In a luxury hotel, you’ve got everything you need at your fingertips.
Make sure you do the same in your own room (one of my friends has one in their walk-in closet!)
Armchair
There’s something incredibly sophisticated about having an armchair in your bedroom.
You can even try putting a small desk alongside it. Plump it up with a few cushions, and curl up with a good book. Add some low lighting, and you’ve got yourself a cozy reading corner. Just be sure to not let it become an extra place to leave your clothes (we all do it!)
TV on the wall
When I’m traveling, I love to get to my hotel, stock up on food, and see what movies are on after emails are checked and my schedule is sorted for the next day.
Lying in bed watching movies on a Sunday night is a guilty-pleasure, but why not embrace it?
Install a flat-screen TV on the wall, and watch your favorite films from bed.
En-suite
Last of all, don’t forget the bathroom. If you’re lucky enough to have an en-suite, try outfitting it out with the most luxurious touches.
Install a spa bath for that hot tub feeling. You can also use candles and low lighting to make it a little cozier.
We all deserve a little luxury in our own homes. Treat yourself!
Stay tuned as tomorrow I’m teaming up with a few Boston bloggers to giveaway a staycation at a beautiful hotel downtown on my Instagram!
