During a recent shoe search with a friend, she was looking for a great (black) heel that was stylish and work appropriate. Me? I ended up with the most insane teal crossover wedges that no one in their right mind would attempt in a corporate environment. I guess if anything were to motivate me to get out a bit more…
It did get me thinking about something I’m sure many others are considering. Just how does one present their little black dress during a spring where bright colors are so on trend?
I have several ideas of course. Two year ago I found a gorgeous sparkly little black dress by Kenar that I paired with a hot pair of pumps. The result was quite pleasing and earned me compliments from men gay and straight.
Having worked in the salon/spa industry where our outfit choices consisted of black, black and more black, I have become a pro at spicing up the most simple of noir ensembles.
Beyond donning a pair of outrageously bright pair of sky-high heels, the addition of an armful of turquoise and pastel pink bangles, sparkly and lightweight coral scarf, emerald pair of Alexis Bittar cascade earrings or a yellow and peach envelope clutch, any black dress can instantly be transformed into a spring appropriate outfit.
One of the best things that has come of my experiences in the past two years, is the confidence I have acquired. I like what I like when it comes to fashion and that’s really all I worry about.
My track record of selecting great pieces has aided me in feeling as if my somewhat spontaneous choices are well-founded.

March 24, 2012I LOVE this! I feel like it's hard for me to leave the LBD alone so I do the same as you! Adding bright accessories or shoes make an all black ensemble much more palatable! 🙂

March 25, 2012My black dress actually has a floral print on it, so it's a bit spring-like on its own; but I like to use pink accessories to make it even more warm-weather appropriate. And, of course, sky-high wedges! 🙂
