When I began dating an avid outdoorsman I never realized the lengths I would go to spend quality time with him and be a part of the happiness and accomplishment he felt during and at the completion of each new adventure.
It is ironic that I signed on to read and review “I Promise Not to Suffer” right before we met as it is the story of a woman who agrees to hike the Pacific Crest Trail (spanning from Mexico to Canada) with her overtly athletic significant other.
The main protagonist is so brutally honest in her overwhelming love for her 6’2″ husband, her concern regarding her mother’s breast cancer that has returned, to her fear of not being able to finish the trip, a fear only slightly lesser than letting him go on his own and never returning.
I immediately identified with the atypical relationship she shared with her family and the emotional struggles she continuously shared candidly with readers.
This memoir has it all, romance, adventure, danger, personal quests, the beauty of nature and most importantly, addictively expressive prose.
Read this book if you want to experience something amazing while ensconced in your hammock on the last days of Summer.
If you would like a reminder of all of the positive aspects of your relationship and wonder just how far others will go for love.
Lastly, read it if you want to be inspired.

August 31, 2013my husband will always have the call of the open road in his heart- that need to venture west in a car, or hike somewhere in the woods for an extended period of time, and though i am very much a home-bound creature, i know i will one day have to satisfy that need to go somewhere with him!! what he doesn't know is that it will be after we retire (ha!)

September 2, 2013Oh and for my entry- I love the idea of doing something like hiking the trail, but don't know if I would personally be able to handle it. So its fun to live vicariously through reading.
