This post was created in partnership with Verizon however all sentiments are my own.
Though there was never any reason to officially announce it, for the past ten months I have been dating a well-known food blogger/recipe developer/cookbook author/television host.
Having started as friends then turned travel buddies, we are fortunate to have had such a solid foundation before taking the next step in becoming a couple, and then signing for a place together.
We found our dream apartment in a wonderful part of Boston that encompasses the entire third floor with our own private little roof-deck (with the perfect view of the Prudential building!)
Daydreaming about the dinners we would host with our friends and fellow bloggers, how we would choose to decorate, and how we would set things up in the kitchen for what is sure to be his imminent success has been our recent favorite pastime.
Today I’m sharing how we are coordinating our move with the help of apps and technology in a streamlined manner:
Google Keep
So many aspects of our move have been planned, noted, and organized in shared Google Keep folders. Whether it be pieces of furniture we still need to purchase, tasks to be completed, even our budgets and travel packing lists.
Having a central place we can refer to that is a living breathing document ensures constant transparency in where we are in the process.
We sync and share our Google calendars as to prevent ourselves from double booking, and remind each other of important tasks, presentations, and events. I also love this as I use his calendar as a way to remember when he’ll be on air so I can send him an early morning “Good luck today” text!
Alexa
We are fortunate to have an Alexa that allows us to do all of the silly things that are completely unnecessary but I have now come to enjoy.
Having my horoscope read to me while we are still in bed sipping coffee, hearing the top news headlines, even having Alexa tell me the time when my cellphone is halfway across the room and I’m scared I’m running a little too late.
Nest
Our new place also has a Nest installed, allowing us to also change the temperature via voice command through our Alexa or remotely by app.
The cool thing about the Nest is it’s also self-learning. Meaning it will design temperature schedules based on your previous patterns, even adjusting when it knows you’re not home.
Google Hangouts
We stay in communication throughout the day via Google Hangouts rather than text (much better while in the office) and even loop in our friends for larger discussion coordination.
We also share photos of concepts while still in the planning stages when one of us is traveling, and save those conversations to further flesh out later.
Spotify
Like every other breathing human, we love music, go to live shows together, and create shared playlists for every type of occasion (especially for long drives!) Planning and executing a move is stressful, and sometimes a little music can lighten things back up.
Much of the time our favorite songs are piping through the Alexa or UE Boom speakers.
We are fortunate to be powered by the largest, most reliable network (it’s truly the best especially in Boston and it’s tunnels): Verizon.
