Though this post was created in partnership with Verizon and Google provided a Pixel without charge, the following is my honest review as I was not even required to create one on my blog.
There are countless things about my lack of tech savvy that I daren’t reveal on my blog. But as I promised this was an honest review, I’ll tell you.
I blinged my sidekick during undergrad. I only switched to the iPhone in 2013 because of the camera, and was a late adopter to Instagram (two and a half years ago) and Snapchat (about five months ago.)
With all of that said, it’s quite clear technology is still very important to me.
From the speed of my service, streaming music during workouts, performance of my camera during (and after) events for coverage, and the ability to respond in real-time when questioned about where that bowl of ramen I just posted was from.
The Camera
As thoroughly tested (against the Samsung 7 Edge and iPhone 7), the Google Pixel provides the highest quality camera currently available within the market.
Thinking beyond the megapixels, is the clarity in spite of the lack of light.
When up against any other smartphone in dim light, the Pixel works some kind of magic.
Unlimited Photo Storage
I struggled right along with you when reaching photo capacity, using that not-so-secret hack to take photos within Instagram to force additional storage on my previous phones.
Long gone are those days as the Pixel not only automatically updates all apps while connected to WiFi, but all photos get saved to the Google Drive leaving you with no shortage on storage.
I really had no idea how to react to this scenario. Seriously, when has this been a reality?
Intuitive Design
From the integration with Uber (I’ll let you find out what goodies they cooked up for their users), to the “Okay Google” concierge that literally tells you everything (every ramen shop within 20 miles please.)
From turning my phone on battery saving mode, to the data saver and
The fingerprint is thankfully on the back, lessening the smudged screen effect, and just increasing the overall UX (this isn’t something you would even think about until you experience it.)
State of the Art Protection
Artworks Live Case featuring the Australian artist Justin Maller.
Each design is customized to be one of a kind and allows you a live wallpaper experience that turns your screen into an ever-changing gallery.
So what’s the verdict? Does it live up to all the hype? In short, yes. Yes it does.
And in my opinion, most technology never does, but this phone has been the talk of every blogger trip, dinner, and party.
Looking to take the plunge? Verizon is offering them at $99 during their pre-holiday sale because, better matters.
