“There’s no manual for the real world. In high school and college we have guidance counselors, course requirements and teachers. But the minute we graduate into adulthood, it seems we are immediately expected to understand where to go, what to do, and how to get wherever we’re going next.” [Jenny Blake]
I was inspired to make this post when I saw the trailer for Alexis Bleidel’s new movie cleverly titled: “Post Grad.” According to the official website, the main character Ryden (Alexis) graduates from college, moves back home to look for a job/love and direction. Sounds like something many of us are doing right now no? Perfecting timing.
So many questions arise when we think about our lives after college: what is no longer acceptable, what can we no longer wear or get away with? How will our lives change? Even worse, will we experience the mythical Quarter-life Crisis?
* A great tip I received was when setting up online banking to label accounts with goals in mind. Label one “House/Condo” and as you watch the number in that account rise you’ll find yourself inspired by how much closer you are to your goal.

* I began using an oversized file system in a large expandable case in which I house a color-coded system of pink/blue/yellow/orange folders which I utilize to organize any incoming mail regarding health/medical bills, credit card bills, savings/checking account statements, as well as my investments and important documentation and some correspondence.

The New York Times made interesting points..
This is something I have not yet had experience with as I am bypassing most of this and will (luckily) be meeting three potential employers in September after which I will select the one I would like to work for. However, once I begin my desk job I may elaborate here or do a separate post on the bound to be humorous experiences that occur.
- Linked In: use it for networking/resume posting?
- Facebook/Myspace: tone down the former, delete the latter altogether
- Who will you not be friending?
- Email: babygirl14@yahoo will no longer cut it. The typical firstnamelastname@whichevermaildotcom you choose will suffice and help you with branding and remind possible employers of your name.
