There’s a little over a month until it’s officially spring, and I for one am excited. It’s been cold where I live for far too long – I’m in serious need of some sun. While I can’t wait for spring, I know that it will most probably still be quite chilly outside.
One problem many of us New Englanders face is that while spring is meant to mark the return of the warmer weather, in most places it’s more like a transitional season. It can be both warm and cold, making choosing the perfect outfit a nightmare. Why can’t the weather just make its mind up?
The good news is that when it comes to spring fashion, there are plenty of ways you can get your look spot on. It’s just a case of knowing how to dress and what pieces to team with each other, to ensure that as well as looking good, you’re also nice and toasty. There’s nothing worse than being cold, even if you know you look good.
Layer up
One of the best ways to deal with the constantly changing spring weather is to layer up. To ensure that whatever the weather decides to do, you’re comfortable, layering your clothes is a must.
There are so many options when it comes to layering, what’s essential to think about is style and warmth. Your outfit needs to look chic but should also be warm and comfortable – achieving this is much easier than you’d think.
Under each outfit, don a vest, and then layer on top of it. For example, under a fine knit jumper, wear a cute, spring top. That way, you’re covered if it’s cold as well as if the weather warms up.
Pair a crop top with high-waisted trousers and an oversized coat. This outfit combination will allow you to wear your fave spring crop tops but without the fear of ending up cold. Maxi skirts look great no matter what the season, but to ensure that you’re nice and cozy, team yours with tights or leggings.
You’ll look and feel great, and no one will be any the wise to the fact that you’ve got leggings on underneath.
Team dresses with knitwear
Spring is all about the pretty dresses; the only problem is sometimes it’s too cold to feel good in them. To make wearing your fave day dress a little more bearable, consider teaming it with knitwear.
That way you can still wear your favorite clothes, but you don’t have to stress about getting cold.
As well as layering dresses with knitted cardigans and jumpers, how about teaming with woollen tights? Or for a more modest look, how about teaming these tunic tops for women with thick leggings?
Spring is a season where if you want to look and feel good when it comes to what you’re wearing, you have to get creative.
You’ll find plenty of inspiration online on sites like Pinterest, so make sure to have a browse.
Wear bright colors and lovely floral prints
If it’s too cold to dress in spring lines of clothing, give your look a spring vibe instead. You might not be able to wear your fave floral dress on its own just yet, but how about wearing a long-sleeved t-shirt underneath it?
That way, your look will have a bright, beautiful spring vibe but you won’t need to show any skin.
Spring may not be here just yet, but at least, once it is, you’ll know the best ways to look great without getting cold.
