Many of my previous Thanksgivings have been a bit rough. Having been on my own with very little in the way of company – I am now able to truly be cognizant of how lucky I am at this very moment.
In fact the best Thanksgiving I have had in quite a while was just a few years ago, when I spent it with two coworkers, serving turkey dinners and smiles at a local shelter to so many that had very little.
We can often forget in the midst of our loneliness or even during a particular
streak of unhappiness, what blessings come our way all of the time.

We may instead focus on wanting to look exceptional or be the perfect hostess with exquisite table settings, Michelin worthy dishes and not a hair out of place.
Target’s My Kind of Holiday hits home because this year I am finally able to spend the holidays with the absolute love of my life and a group of wonderful, down to earth friends and family.
Though yes this is My Kind of Holiday, it feels like the ultimate holiday.
One of the traditions, new to my life will not be making a particular recipe (yet, there is plenty of time for that) is “M” picks up the most amazing pastries that everyone looks forward to at the conclusion of the meal.

Glass Serving Tray for the Modern Hostess |
What do you get the hostess who has everything?
I am always partial to the personalized and Target has an incredible assortment of pieces sure to show your hostess just how thankful you are for her hard work.
If your hostess gravitates to more of the vintage, this record player (along with one or two of her favorite artists) would be the ultimate piece to add to her Thanksgiving decor.
No matter the piece you select, as always,
the thoughtfulness of the gesture well always be well received.
What unique traditions do you celebrate during Thanksgiving?
This post was written in partnership with Target.

November 17, 2013Our traditions tend to center around the big dinner itself. We don't have many Thanksgiving traditions, which makes me think I need to initiate some. It is, after all, my favorite holiday!
I love that glass serving tray. That kind of tableware is something I can never have too much of. Also, the record player – I've noticed all the record albums at Urban Outfitters lately. It's great that the medium is making a comeback of sorts.

November 18, 2013so excited you will be spending the holiday with M + friends and family. i think our thanksgiving traditions are more centered around the menu, but now that i'm married, i think the hubby and i will come up with some traditions of our own … like hosting dinner at our place instead of traveling to friends and family.

November 18, 2013It will be nice to one day have our own Thanksgiving at home (with guests of course) but I am thankful that will be a few years out xo

November 18, 2013I'm so happy you will be surrounded by those you love this thanksgiving!
I don't necessarily call it unique but my entire family gets together and we just cook all sorts of food in the kitchen together. Now we have an extra person, my niece which will make it all the more special.

November 18, 2013Thank you Faith, I love how your Thanksgiving sounds (and so excited to see photos, your niece is absolutely adorable!) xo

November 18, 2013I am SO in love with that vintage record player. I remember growing up, about 25 people would cram into our little house for Thanksgiving. Now that everyone has grown up, and moved to different areas of the country, it doesn't happen anymore. We've spent the last few years with Steve's family on Turkey Day, and it's always very nice. Lucky for me, my sister-in-law is a food scientist (yes, thats a realprofession) and an amazing cook to boot, so it's an incredible meal that leaves me unbuttoning my pants!

November 19, 2013Isn't it fun!? You're so lucky to have a food scientist in the family – I can't wait to hear all about the dishes she prepares π

November 18, 2013We don't really have any Thanksgiving traditions. We rotate holidays between my parents and my husband's parents. But now with baby on the way, perhaps we'll start some new traditions in the coming years!

November 18, 2013I love these hostess gifts! Since my family has moved and changed so much over the years, I can't say I have too many Thanksgiving traditions. But we did attend a Friendsgiving this weekend that was SUCH a blast and I hope will become a tradition from here on out!

November 19, 2013Some of my coworkers told me about theirs and it sounds so fun I am excited π

November 19, 2013Very VERY true we all need to be more grateful which is the point of the holiday not the false story we are told.
