My workday no longer revolves around the beauty industry but I can’t seem to tear myself away. Weekly blow outs, bi-weekly two week manicures and monthly luxe pedicures have definitely become a part of my past.
My new-found love (okay, I started my 401k at age 21, this Sally Saver attitude didn’t just pop up overnight) of watching my bank account grow, causes me to give pause each time my finger lingers over the green button before making a call to one of my favorite coif centers.
That said, I have a much needed manicure booked for tomorrow and an even more necessary massage booked for Thursday. I’ve been carrying my stress on my shoulders and I know I’ll feel like a new person once the knots have been kneaded away. In my more corporate work environment I choose to stick with nude hues or a classic french when it comes to my nails, nothing flashy or edgy. I am hovering between selecting Butter’s All Hail The Queen or Aston.
Restaurant Week begins next week in Boston and I’ve sent my e-vite to friends asking for their selections. I’d like to use the opportunity as a time to catch up while enjoying the best 2 and 3 course samplers Boston has to offer.
I’m looking forward to Davio’s for Italian (I’ve only been there for cocktails), Kashmir for Indian, L’Espalier for French and possibly Morton’s and Oak Room as old trusted standbys.
All of these foreseen consumed calories mean I will most definitely need to spend a bit more time at the gym and on my bike.
I’ve currently settled into the most lovely routine. Waking far earlier than I ever imagined would be consistently possible, enjoying either a cup of black coffee (I only add a bit of soy and cocoa as a treat on the weekends) or my green wheatgrass, vegetable, flax & organic fruit shake.
I leisurely browse the mornings news and enjoying the sunrise from my perch at the living room table.
I then lace up my sneakers and do between 30 and 60 minutes of a combination of cardio, Pilates and core work. I’ve also begun riding my bike to work. I track all of my workouts and my little cyclists commute with Endomondo Pro. With the app, I can track the miles I’ve run/biked and the calories I burn. My workouts are then uploaded to a gorgeously functional website that boasts monthly contests in which users can win sportswear, smartphones and sports equipment.
There’s a lot to come in the next two and a half weeks, I’ll keep you posted.
