I have been toying with the idea of running this series for quite some time but wanted to be
sure it was done correctly (i.e. in a manner no one would feel bad/exposed.)
The amusement my friends experience from my dating life is far too great for it not to
be shared with others. And so, from time to time you can hear about my near huge misses
in the world of dating.
Let us start with the man that showed up to our date with the entire front of his car missing.
No I was not making a cameo in a 2chainz video this was real life.
Things happen and who am I to judge, so of course I got in and was immediately warned of the loud
“whooshing” noises that would ensue due to there being … no front end.
Going over any type of bump caused something that was dangling on the undercarriage to
scrape along the pavement and at red lights people stared shamelessly.
Our first date was okay, he forced me to eat things I had said I did not care for but wanting to be open I had a taste. He was incredulous at my lack of desire for tuna tartare. Sorry..?
I thought I would give things another shot and invited him to an event that involved free alcohol and food. He had mentioned (loudly might I add) that his favorite word was free.
I get into the car that has half it’s body missing, strap on my seatbelt (because he drove like a maniac) and he awkwardly spreads his arms apart for a hug.
Even though I just. Buckled. My. Seatbelt.
He’s also wearing a huge orange puffy jacket that is about three sizes too large.
At the event he begins throwing back each drink he receives as if he is a freshman on spring break in Cabo while spitting while he talks (loudly) to anyone who will listen.
Staggering to the bathroom every two minutes gave me moments to try to salvage the situation as I was there attempting to network with other writers and foodies.
He had been tallying the number of hugs I “owed” him ever since I politely declined
the awkwardness in the car and then went on to say he would need to take a nap before driving me home. Perhaps we could “cuddle” during said nap. Perhaps not.
There were so many embarrassing aspects to the evening but I think divulging anymore would be less funny, more-so a road I would not like to travel down.
Believe it or not, this was not my worst date. By far.
Tell me your thoughts!

May 13, 2013Oh man – what a disaster! I am very excited for this series though 🙂 I also have been curious… is there a new love interest for the fabulous Georgina?
Georgina
May 13, 2013Totally a disaster, it only gets worse really but I have to laugh at it (and hopefully someone who may be in a similar situation can also see the humor their own!)
There is NO love interest in my life nor do I plan for one anytime soon. I'm not sure why I even attempt to date at all lol

May 13, 2013what?!? back during my dating days, i had some characters, but this one, may have mine beat! i give you props for trying to keep an open mind (and even going on a second date). as for him….i have no words!
Georgina
May 13, 2013I know, I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried. Sometimes before I go on a date with a guy he googles me and my blog pops up (or he does some other sleuthing.) I wonder how potentials will react to this new series :p

May 14, 2013I didn't want to judge him solely because of something that could have been expkained by some situation out of his control. But then later I realized..

May 13, 2013HAHAHAHAHA O…M…G… I cannot even tell you how much I thoroughly enjoyed this blog post and cannot even wait for more of these! I mean, the story alone is hilarious enough, but the way you wrote it is just perfection!
Like, WTF?!?!?!?! Seriously. This could be an SNL skit!
Georgina
May 14, 2013Heather your comment totally reassures me that starting this series was the right thing to do. I really appreciate your kind words, thank you 🙂

May 14, 2013Not fun at all! Haha! But makes for a great blog post! Where the heck did he think you were going to nap? And if he was driving why the heck did he drink so much!? So glad you kicked him to the curb. 🙂
Georgina
May 14, 2013Ugh I know, he left his car at his place and then he had to take the T so he could drink as much as he wanted. Some guys never grow up…

May 14, 2013Very hysterical story Georgina!
I remember a disastrous first date in Bermuda before I was married, the man was so good looking and everyone where I worked had a crush on him. I was so excited when he asked me out for a date, but from start to finish – let's just say I could never picture him sitting at my family dining room table, as he had NO table manners at all in any respect.
I was so turned off from the first five minutes of sitting down to dinner, I really do not know how I survived the rest of the date, and how awkward it was to see him at work (I worked in a hotel) everyday and have to face that very good looking face, knowing I would never, ever go out with him again!!
I do look back and laugh out loud every now and then when I need a laugh!!
Georgina
May 14, 2013Sooo awkward but definitely funny later! Glad someone can see the humor (after an appropriate amount of time passes.) xo

May 14, 2013Wait? Not the worst?

May 14, 2013Your vivid description of his "car" is hilarious. I wish you had taken a picture with your phone. Do I see another date in your future…for further blog material only?
Georgina
May 14, 2013Lol I feel bad even laughing at that specific part but setting the scene/tone is so important, it wouldn't have been the same if I had left it out. There will be NO other dates with him, I have so much material I have been storing up for the day I finally took this step. Plenty of entertainment I promise! Thanks for reading 🙂

May 15, 2013I can only imagine how awkward that hug would have been."Hug Tally",reminds me of something a kindergarten teacher might do for students that were in The Time Out Corner.
It gets better!
Georgina
May 20, 2013omg the entire experience was the epitome of awkward, I just can't lol….

May 18, 2013Hehe I can't help but laugh because I think we have all experienced an akwrdly awful date such as this!!!! Can't wait for the next installment of the dating diaries…i can only imagine what could possibly follow a front end-less, giant orange puffy coat, hug tallying nigjtmare of a date 😉 xoxoz
Georgina

May 18, 2013Oh my. I think I would just have had to leave him somewhere and got a cab or walked home. I cannot believe there is worse…and looking forward to hearing about it.
Georgina
May 20, 2013Believe me there were a number of things running through my head but I did want to ATTEMPT to continue acting like a lady. Thank you for stopping by LaShawn xo

May 18, 2013Oh, my GAWD! LMAO!! I'm sorry girl, but you know–it's as they say: every bad date makes for a great story. And this was one of them. I would like to know what happened to the front part of his car. And why he thought it was acceptable to wear an orange puffy jacket on a first date. And so many other things.
I love reading dating stories. They're my favorite kind. I'm sorry this one went so awry, but hey–it's a great blog post. Don't fret–the right one is out there for you 🙂
Stopping in from SITS Sharefest and so very glad that I did. Hope you're enjoying your weekend!
Georgina
May 20, 2013Lol I know there were a great deal of questions running through my mind also – definitely sorry things did not go well but in the end it all worked out 🙂
