I am a firm supporter in others (and myself) dressing in the clothes which make us
feel most comfortable and I certainly do not see anything wrong with finding
fashion inspiration at those times when we just need a muse.
I would never directly copy someone elses style or outfit, but I do love taking influence
from others and using it to style up my own outfits.
Below are some of my favorite places to find sartorial insight daily
and especially for special events.

Instagram happens to be my go-to app for finding fashion inspiration. Beyond the obvious (being able to scroll one beautiful photo by beautiful photo of perfectly staged scenarios), I love sharing my own pictures.
No matter the situation; I scout for images depicting a fall tablescape while
planning this years Friendsgiving, the perfect pillows for my reading nook or
luggage for an upcoming overdue Winter getaway.
Using various hashtags I search for others imagery or tag my own with “ootd”
(outfit of the day for my family members who read and may not know insta-language)
or #bostonblogger to create a geographical bookmark.

Though some argue it to be similar to Instagram, instead I create and organize
a multitude of boards, pinning pictures I love mainly as a brainstorm. Prior to
my blogger days and as a young girl, I created a Moleskine of Inspiration.
There was an immense satisfaction I felt thumbing through and identifying items I had attained, places I had visited after once placing it in there as a mere dream.
I follow some of my favorite bloggers (Damsel In Dior), brands (JustFab) and
communities while maintaining several secret ones.

Fashion Magazines
This goes without saying, but I do still purchase and keep my favorite fashion glossies. They are a great way to keep up to date with the latest trends (although I may not always follow them.)
Most often I purchase a stack prior to travel to devour on my flight, keeping my brain
churning without too inducing much stimulation. I still have several
fall fashion magazines open on my coffee table this very moment.

Street Style
No matter what I am doing or where I am, I am always scanning
my periphery for well styled ensembles.
If a piece happens to resonate especially, I keep an
eye out for something similar during my next shopping excursion.

Lookbook
Lookbook describes itself as an online fashion magazine curated by its very
own community. It offers quite a bit more than that however.
You can view fashion bloggers dailyoutfits, and you can even give them a vote if you find them original, beautiful or just put together in a way you never would have imagined.
These upvotes can increase a blogger position on the Lookbook leader board. Though anyone
can start a Lookbook account; it has its own set of rules. One rule that helps many of us
in keeping things fresh; that of course you are not able to upload the same outfit twice.
Great motivation to repurpose pieces, mixing and matching beyond typical bounds.

Fashion Blogs
Being a blogger myself (though in no way a fashion blogger), it is a no brainer that
I love to look at other fashion blogs for inspiration. Each fashion blogger is so different,
her way of styling telling her own story which never fails to intrigue me.
Most pieces I would never dream of wearing myself;
but I always admire bloggers who go all out with their wardrobe.
Where do you find your fashion inspiration?
XOXO

November 23, 2014I completely agree with you!! I stalk pinterest like nobody's business when I'm feeling less than inspired. I still get a few magazines in the mail, but find since I've started my business, I'm having less and less time to go through them. So online media is the handiest way I've found to stay on top of my style game! 🙂
