Today while stopping by a local Walgreens to pick up paper materials for a fashion project I am working on, my outfit was discussed by the 60-something man behind the counter and the even older man in line behind me.
I was wearing a pair of black White House Black Market skinny jeans, 4 inch patent black heels and a black, long sleeved thermal. To add a splash of color I wound a gorgeous, turquoise scarf around my neck.
By no means was it cable knit or any other heavy fabric, yet the sexagenarian behind the register asked sarcastically “Is it already that cool out that you need a scarf?” I explained simply “I wanted to add some color to my outfit.” It made me think about dressing appropriately for the weather and if I was rushing into fall too soon.

facials and blowouts for the month.
The list could go on for quite some time. However, with the impending fall, comes an abundance of wonderful things: colored/printed tights, sleek leather jackets, vibrant foliage, fall collections, OPI/Essie seasonal hues with whimsical names to match, over the knee boots paired with knee socks, pumpkin spiced lattes, the return of Gossip Girl et al.
Not to mention fall is the ideal time to perfect the art of layering. The chillier weather and appearance of big yellow school buses trigger waves of nostalgia for all things summer such as:

There are a great deal of things to look forward to when thinking about the rapidly approaching fall (my turquoise scarf for one) yet so many things I’ll miss and have to wait another year for. Happy Labor Day!
