It may still feel like the middle of winter, but warmer weather and brighter skies will arrive before you know it. The spring provides an excellent opportunity for creative homeowners to refresh and update their décor.
A Splash of Color. A couple of tins of paint makes for a very inexpensive experiment, so if you’re on a budget, why not experiment with color? Choose a room and repaint in a shade you have always wanted to try.
To keep it fresh, use a color that seems appropriate for the spring and summer months, like a buttery yellow, a pale violet or a kiwi green. If you don’t want to commit to painting the whole room, you can create a feature wall.
Make sure the new color compliments the current shade of the room, and you can’t go wrong. Don’t forget that you can easily update old pieces of furniture by painting them, so get started on freshening up those old kitchen chairs.

Seat Covers and Throws. If you’re tired of kitchen or dining room chairs, it’s very easy to create new seat covers yourself. Simply purchase the covering material and some soft foam if necessary, and use a stapler to complete the task. Suddenly, you have brand new chairs on a shoestring budget.
More information on reupholstering chair seats can be found online. Using a throw to cover a battered or stained sofa is an excellent way of updating an old piece of furniture. You can choose colors and patterns that fit with the fresh theme.
If you are considering investing in new furniture, choose a retailer that specializes in versatile and high quality wooden pieces, like Notation Furniture.

Spring Cleaning. Some love it, others dread it, and a few don’t bother with it at all. Whatever your style, spring cleaning is a cheap way to give your home a makeover, ready for the warmer months. If it feels like a daunting task, rope in family members and friends to help you.
You can make a fun day out of even the most tedious cleaning tasks if you have the right company. De-cluttering can also make a huge difference when it comes to refreshing your home. Be ruthless and decide what needs to be binned or donated to charity.
If you haven’t worn clothes in over six months, they should be given away,
and books or toys that your children no longer use can be passed on.
Have you begun thinking about Spring cleaning?

January 27, 2014I don't Spring Clean. My mom always cleaned the outside of all her windows every Spring. That's the one thing I'd like to do if I could find the time. I love switching out fall/winter floral arrangements for my silk tulips in the Spring.

January 27, 2014I like the idea of buttery yellow accent wall to usher in Spring! I'm so tired of my walls, but feel ansy about painting as a renter.
