During these colder days I feel like I am always fighting to keep my skin and
scalp from becoming a sad, lackluster, parched mess.
Here are some methods I have been utilizing this winter especially
that are worth a try:
1. I purchased a gorgeous little humidifier and keep the heat a bit lower.
Dry heat does exactly that, zaps the moisture from your skin.
Not only will a humidifier help slow down premature aging, but when paired with drinking
copious amounts of water, your skin will remain glowing and supple.
2. Layer your products, especially at night. In the evening I pat a serum on
underneath my night cream to seal in essential vitamins and repair whatever sin skins
I may have committed that day.
3. To combat harsher conditions, go creamier.
Being somewhat prone to a shiny t-zone, I typically use a gel moisturizer during
late spring through early fall. When winter rolls around I break out the heavy
artillery and slather on a much richer cream.
4. Exfoliate per usual but keep it gentle.
It is always important to slough off dead skin with care, however it is doubly so during
harsh wintery days where micro-tears created by overt enthusiasm is sure to lead to premature wrinkles.
5. Altering small habits will create a world of change.
Lower the temperature when showering and cleansing your face,
limit alcohol and caffeine which are dehydrating, and be sure to incorporate
more healthy fats as possible or be consistent with your omega-3 supplements.
Have a wonderful day and turn this week into something wonderful.

December 17, 2012Girl, I needed to read this. my skin needs major work. lol. I'm getting a facial tomorrow but since I cant afford to splurge on facials every month. a good skin care regimen is soo needed. I'm going to do some research on the products you listed.. what do you use on your hair? My scalp gets dry so quickly after wash.. Happy New Week.. Xo

December 17, 2012You're so right – a good skincare regimen is crucial π
I actually just started using Marula oil on my scalp (small amounts at night before I brush and wrap about every three days.) It is working wonders and keeps my hair quenched and shiny!
Have a wonderful one Jewel!

December 17, 2012Great tips! I definitely invested in a serum because I needed to lock in moisture. I also go heavier with my lotion during the colder months and keep lotion with me at all times.

December 17, 2012Hey! I just pop by through a bloghop, and girl, I just have a crush on your blog!! Loved this post! I've tried the Estee Lauder serum and I loved it! I never tried a humidifier because I used to live on Mallorca, Spain, and we had tons of humidity! Now that I moved to Norway I may try it out once, air is much dried here!
