Healthy, younger looking skin is something that most of us aspire to at some point in our lives. The aging process is inevitable, and it catches up to us all.
Below are a few things we can maintain our healthy, supple and younger looking skin.
Increase Your Omega 3 Intake.
Omega 3 fatty acids are present in foods such as oily fish, nuts, and leafy green vegetables. They help restore damaged skin cells and make it more resilient.
Foods rich in this Omega 3’s include salmon, mackerel, flaxseed, and oatmeal.
Old age is something we will reach if we are lucky. The speed at which our bodies look older is largely due to genetics.
However, by adopting healthy habits and looking after our bodies, we can continue to look younger for longer.
Moisturize Well. Moisturize Often.
A good moisturizer will instantly improve your skin’s appearance, especially if it is dry. Create a daily skincare routine and stick to it.
Be sure you remove all of your makeup daily. Cleanse and tone the skin and always follow with a good night cream or moisturizer. Opt for a formula that complements your skin type.
I am currently obsessed with Aixallia‘s Green Tea Protective Day Cream and just started using micellar water by Bioderma and love how it removes makeup, cleanses without drying, tones and moisturizes in one step.
I am getting my glow. (N.B. I was provided both of the aforementioned products at no cost.)
Quit Smoking.
Smoking is one the main habits that make us appear older. There are so many negative side effects of smoking that quitting is one of the best things we can do for our health.
Apart from it being linked to several life-threatening illnesses, it makes us look older than our years. It can cause sagging to the eye area and wrinkles around the mouth.
Increase Your Vitamin C Intake.
Collagen is a protein in our skin that makes it appear firmer and plumper. When we get older collagen production slows down. This can cause our skin to become wrinkled and appear saggy.
Increasing your vitamin C intake can help the production of collagen. Most of us are aware that vitamin C is present in citrus fruits such as oranges. However, there is more vitamin C in peppers, guavas, kiwis, and kale and are worth including into your diet.
Be Open to New Treatments.
There are several new skin procedures that have a beneficial effect on the skin. The aim is to make it appear fresher and younger looking. Treatments like the venus freeze legacy activate the collagen in the skin. This makes it tighter and firmer.
Another great way to safely prep your skin for Summer months, is with a Hydrafacial. Relaxing while still results oriented, you’ll leave it smoother, better looking sink in under an hour.
These are minimally invasive procedures that are quick to complete and have a fast (or nonexistent) recovery rate. Fine lines and wrinkles appear reduced, and the skin looks more youthful.
Drink More Water Silly.
I know you hear this over and over again, so why are you not drinking more?
Water is essential for all of our organs to function properly, including our skin. If skin and lips are dehydrated, they becomes dry and flaky. Wrinkles become more pronounced.
Rehydrating and getting enough water on a daily basis will help diminish dehydration and restore your skin’s natural balance.
Cover Up.
Exposure to the sun’s harmful UV rays can accelerate the aging process. To prevent this, cover up as much as possible. Avoid walking around in direct sunlight for long periods of time and wear a wide-brimmed hat to protect your face.
Use a good sunblock to filter out the sun’s rays.
Summer is almost here in Boston, be sun-safe and stay healthy and younger looking longer!
