I have never been one of those people that reaches to a piece of chocolate for a bit of comfort despite my apparent sweet tooth.
Those days sadly seem to be long gone as I dream almost daily about my visit to
Chocolate Therapy in Framingham.
Ready to craft chocolatey goodness with sweet Isara from Alone with a Cupcake |
The brainchild of Pam and David Griffin (fun note: Pam actually used to be my bosses boss, kind of a corporate big deal at a well-known coffee chain) this couple will convert anyone to their ever growing following of chocolaties (see what I did there?)
We began with my favorite type of learning experience, a tasting.
Sampling first, white, milk and dark chocolates (of high quality, similar to what is served at Chocolate Therapy and then one of lesser to truly show the contrast. And was there ever one!)
I learned so much about the confection, like did you know dark chocolate is supposed to be in the 60th percentile of cocoa or that milk is usually in the high 30’s (but Chocolate Therapy keeps theirs at a smooth 52%!?)
Next we snapped on gloves and got to work.
We don’t pop bottles, we pop truffles out of silicon molds
|
Here it comes all hardened |
The finished result! |
We even got to try our hand at creating bark, filling ganaches and topping freshly coated truffles!
Bark toppings (the lemon zest was my favorite!) |
We topped milk and dark chocolate with dried cherries, nuts and more |
Filling Ganache’s with Raspberry |
My post hardly does the place justice as not only will you feel spoiled, many of these treats actually contain therapeutic ingredients like cayenne pepper (in The Cure – so amazing), cinnamon, bay leaf, honey and fresh ginger.
I must confess, I left with a huge bag of treats I had created but could not help but also purchase a box stuffed with some of the salted caramels (it has Tahitian Vanilla, you would get them too,) Pom Balms (pomegranate and chocolate are a pairing made in heaven,) Castaways, The Cure, macarons and a champagne infused chocolate.
Chocolate Therapy was recently shown love by none other than The Boston Globe but they are far from done. After expanding from the location in Legacy Place to the second shop in Framingham, Pam and David are also working on getting a liquor license to host wine and chocolate pairings as if things could not get any better.
They also host childrens parties (ages 8 and up) complete with a chocolate fountain (where was this when I was a child?) The pair even sponsors The Girl Scouts of America, girls can now earn their very own Chocolate Making Badge!
Thank you for welcoming us into your nirvana and plying us with a wealth of chocolate knowledge and boxes full of goodies. I shall be back (the aforementioned “M”
has already been warned this place is high on my list of date night locales!)
Let me know when you visit!
Which do you foresee being your favorite!?
I attended this event at no charge as part of my involvement with The Boston Brunchers, however the above thoughts and opinions are completely my own.

August 2, 2013What a fun trip! I should not have read this so early though, unless chocolate can be acceptable for breakfast ๐ ? I love the theme of their business and will most likely be adding Chocolate Therapy to my list of places to visit when I come to Boston!

August 2, 2013That looks like so much fun! They all look delicious. I worked at a gourmet candy company over Christmas one year in college and learned so much about flavor and shrink wrapping. It wasn't my favorite job but it was definitely the most delicious!
