When we travel, we don’t often think about the journey to our destination.
We put a lot of work into finding the cheapest tickets and getting the best in-flight entertainment, but that’s generally it.
It’s a mandatory wait before we actually get to the meat of our destination, and that can be rather frustrating or even daunting for some people.
In fact, many people hate the idea of flying and it prevents them from traveling in the first place. People don’t want to be stuck un a plane with dozens of strangers, even if there’s unlimited in-flight movies and music to indulge in.
So to flip things around, why not learn to love the journey just as much as the destination? Not only will it make you look forward to traveling, it’ll also make it a lot more fun and your newfound love for travel will help you develop many different hobbies and interests in the future.
To get you started, here are a few ways to help you embrace the journey of your next trip:
Learn Why You Dislike Traveling
Is it because you find traveling boring? Do you dislike your fellow passengers? Do you prefer more privacy? There are plenty of reasons why you might currently dislike traveling, but that’s not to say that you can’t change your mind.
If you really want to enjoy the journey as much as the destination, then you need to weed out the reasons why you currently dislike it. For instance, if you don’t like traveling because it takes too long to get off the ground and into the air or because you dislike annoying passengers, then you may want to consider upgrading to a different class.
Alternatively (if you have the money) you can also consider private jet charters instead of commercial airlines. As long as you’re able to identify the reasons for you disliking travel, you’ll find ways to get around it as well, even if it costs money.
Consider Alternate Methods of Travel
Traveling by plane isn’t the only way to get around, but it is the most convenient.
If you have a true aversion to planes, consider heading out via a train, by car or even cruise ship. There are countless different modes of transportation that you can take advantage of and some of them could be more enticing (and often cheaper) than just a regular plane.
For instance, travelling by train means you’re given a more scenic route, and you’ll fall in love with the slower-paced travel that is full of luxurious amenities and entertainment. You won’t be cramped in a seat for several hours and you can actually look out of the window and see something more than clouds and mountains.
It can be more expensive at times, but it is far more relaxing and enjoyable than sitting on a cramped plane and it’s something that more people need to try at least once or twice in their lives.
Traveling via a long-distance train is so good in fact, that it should even be on your bucket list.
