My trip to Chicago was unquestionably life-changing.
My persistent aspirations to continue traveling were immediately affirmed.
Of those I met..one of the top golfers in the world who is currently
developing a technology that will change the game (and your swing.)
The CEO of a corporation with a loving conscience, being both the deep thinker and fanatical foodie.
The most carefree Aussie named Amy, trekking through the U.S. one great city at a time.
I was dismayed however, to learn Boston was not on her list.
Each bite of stuffed deep dish, wings, shrimp, sip of 312, propelled me on a journey to which my knowledgeable guide narrated each twist and turn;
most interestingly the stories behind the patrons that frequented each establishment.
These were no 5-star restaurants but hidden gems unbeknownst
to those traveling without a local guide such as mine.
I was able to experience Chicago the only way I wished, authentically.
Driving around the Windy City in my dream car; a beautiful vintage Mustang – the epitome of American muscle, windows down, heart full and hopes dangerously high.
Feeling the power beneath me, I wondered whose life I was living.
Not to mention, I have never felt quite so cool.
Though wistful upon my departure, I am certain of a few important things.
A pattern has emerged upon each return to my beloved Boston.
A renewed spirit and inspired fingers that seem they cannot type fast enough.
As I fly back with a Chicago style sandwich from Scatchell’s bigger than my head tucked into my knapsack
(to devour at home with no witnesses) I am content. Humbled. Grateful.
I may have missed the official 4th of July celebration in my hometown, but as my plane descended upon Logan, 5 varying sets of fireworks lit the sky – welcoming me home to a celebration of sorts.
I am certain that even the slightest of lessons were gleaned from each person that crossed my path,
all for a greater purpose. The end result of which I am not certain.
But I cannot tell you how excited I am to find out.
Chicago, thank you.
San Diego, apparently you’re up.

July 7, 2014What a great holiday weekend you had! I actually just booked hotel and flight to Chicago for Labor Day, and will be spending 6 days there! I'm quite certain I will not be cruising around town in a vintage Mustang (so very, VERY jealous!), I'm looking forward to seeing all the city has to offer. Glad you had such an enjoyable trip and made it home safely!
