Italy is the most romantic country in Europe, if not the world. Taking a trip in this scenic and stunning destination is your chance to experience something new and exciting.
There are a wide number of areas in the country which have
an array of intriguing sights and delicious bites.
While France, Germany and Spain all have their merits, there is nowhere in the world which quite lives up to the Italian standards (I may be biased having grown up in an Italian family.)
Villa in Lucca, Italy |
The country is rich in history, fine dining and culture, so there is something for everyone.
During my first trip to Italy I discovered it to be a diverse region of new experiences and friendly Italians. I kicked myself (rhetorically) for neglecting it in favor of beach holidays and tourist attractions.
{Via Condotti} |
Rome And The Colosseum. First stop on my travel plan was Rome. Regardless of what you’ve heard in the past Rome is a busy city, with as many modern things going on as traditional.
While I was there I indulged at as many fine Italian restaurants possible. Still having family living in Italy, I am no stranger to homemade pasta or sauce from scratch.
After getting my fill, it was time to begin sightseeing. I knew I had to see the Colosseum, so this was the first place I opted to visit. It is all you could imagine and more.
This experience was like no other for me. I am sure that the people around me, fellow tourists, were also feeling this way.
{Chianti Classico} |
Wine In Florence. Florence is quite an underestimated area of Italy. Many travellers fail to get enthusiastic about this particular area, which I find odd.
Florence has many museums and historical attractions, so you should not miss it out when planning your travels. I always manage to make friends during my travels, with whom I go on to venture out socially or on some fun new adventures!
One of my favorite things about this city is the number of great wineries here. I am a huge fan of red wine, as are the Italians, so I was able to enjoy many vintage wines during my travels. .
One of the most notable wines is the Chianti Classico (a deep red) however there are also delicious Trebiano whites and Moscadello sweet wines!
Amalfi Coast |
The Coast. Next on my trip I traveled down to the coast. I spent five nights between Puglia and the Amalfi and Estruscan coasts. The coast was undoubtedly the most relaxing part of my trip.
Experiences like this taught me the importance of choosing the road less traveled when seeing new places. I could not have imagined staying in a morecalming place.
Santa Maria della Salute |
Venice. My final stop took me to Venice where I took a gondola down the canals the minute I arrived. I did a lot of research before deciding where to stay and where to eat (Venere.com was invaluable!)
I hope my thoughts on the country have inspired you to do the same.
Have you traveled to Italy?
XOXO

I didn't get to see nearly enough of the country and spent my weekends travelling to other countries since it was so cheap!! I want to travel to Tuscany and then of course the Amalfi coast and so many more locations!! Great post!
