In considering various summer travel destinations, there are a few cities that always come to mind first. It can be great to get away to New York for a few days, and South Beach is always an attractive option.
Hawaiiβs twelve hour flight makes it but a distant dream (albeit an enticing one,) and even the California wine country is the perfect relaxing escape.
One city that always has me a bit conflicted is Las Vegas, despite my having traveled there numerous times. The idea of all the luxury and excess is notable but the fast pace and significant crowds always seem a bit overwhelming. My tune has finally changed this summer after hearing a bit about the ARIA resort.
Though it is possesses all of the usual glamorous perks of Vegas resorts – bustling pools, jingling casino floors, and immaculate restaurants β it is the quieter features of the ARIA that are particularly appealing.
A look at these attributes makes it quite apparent that the ARIA designers have considered each and every little bit of comfort, which generally makes the resort seem just a bit more relaxing and a bit less busy. Here are a few of the features I am talking about.
- “Smart Rooms” – In a 2010 article, Popular Mechanics dubbed the ARIA resort possibly “the most technologically advanced hotel ever built” and it is easy to see why.
- The smart rooms at the ARIA are undoubtedly tempting if you are looking for a relaxing, effortless stay in Vegas. A bedside touchscreen controls just about every aspect of your room, from temperature to the electronic drapes to wake-up calls.
- Advanced Key Cards – The key cards for rooms at the ARIA are loaded with “radio frequency identification technology,” which allows for quicker room entry (no more fumbling key insertion, just tap it on a screen) and in the future may allow even more advanced perks. This feature may seem just for fun, but it is one perk that shows Aria is committed to going that extra mile.
- Organic Custom Toiletry Products – Anything you may need or forget awaits you in your spacious bathroom at the ARIA – soaps, conditioners, etc. A huge plus, the ARIA brand toiletry products are made with all organic ingredients.
- Cozy Beds – Okay, so most beds in Vegas resorts, or vastly expensive resorts anywhere for that matter are probably quite comfortable. But the ARIA’s custom-made posturepedic beds enable you to effectively “sleep on a cloud,” as the website averages. If your physical comfort is of concern, these beds must hold plenty of appeal.
- Smart Mini-Bar β What would a smart room be without a smart mini-bar? If you deplete your supply in the mini bar while getting ready for your night out, your smart bar is equipped to automatically let the front desk know that you need new refreshments. Basically, your bar comes to you!
Ultimately, there are plenty of ultra-comfortable 5 star resorts out there. But knowing that a Vegas resort is focusing as much on comfort and room perks as their lights and card tables certainly makes a visit a bit more appealing!
