While I absolutely love the short but sweet stretch of summer months, I hate that I usually get a cold around this time of year. Everyone seems to be coughing and sneezing at some point between June and the end of August.
It’s hard to tell who has allergies and who is coming down with something downright contagious.
I love all my friends as much as the next girl, but I have to admit to thinking of keeping my distance when this feared time rolls around.
Check out the following ways to help you avoid a summer cold:

Hand hygiene is of the highest importance if you want to avoid spreading germs and viruses.
Whether you fall foul to the cold or not, you may be carrying it around for someone else to catch.
You can keep your hands at least sanitized around the clock by carrying with you one a small bottle of hand cleansing gel.
While getting rid of the dirt (I typically do one round wiping off excess with a napkin to take care of this followed by another) in just a few seconds.
The gel also dries really quickly so you can get on with your day.
A lot of people hold in their sneezes (I am guilty of this) but some say sneezing is quite a good way to keep parts of the cold out of your system. The best way to blast out the whatever is currently irritating your nasal passage is to sneeze fully, rather than stifling it.
Everyone knows you should get plenty of vitamin C to prevent and treat a cold.
What better place than a juice bar to boost your immune system?
You can find places like the Juice Crafters stores that specialize in cleansing, detox,
and immune boosts. Plus the juices are absolutely delicious.
It’s a great way to get your extra vitamin C in, plus a whole host of other nutritional goodies.
Exposure to lots of bugs and viruses can actually help you when it comes to fighting common colds.
If you have school-age kids, you know that they are frequently coming down with the sniffles.
However, if you spend a lot of time around kids, you may find that your immune system is supercharged. You may be carrying the virus, but not suffering from any symptoms.
There are also some Yoga poses and breathing techniques that are thought to be beneficial in keeping cold symptoms at bay. Anyone who exercises regularly knows the benefits this brings to your overall health. Fit people tend to be able to get over colds a bit more quickly.
For some people, a quick cold remedy medicine as soon as they have their first sneeze is thought to ward off a cold.
For others, they sweat it out with an intense workout.
Most of us just want to curl up in bed until it’s gone.
Rest and fluids are important when you have a temperature,
but we usually just feel the congestion part of a summer cold.
It’s still pretty yukky though! There’s no way we want to avoid our friends, especially when they’re feeling poorly, so it looks like I’m on my way to the juice bar. Enjoy!
