steamed collard greens and firm cubes of tofu in satay sauce. So yummy!
3. Just because it’s a salad, that doesn’t mean it’s healthy. I see all types of unhealthy options offered at various restaurants or salad bars.
Here’s what to skip: creamy dressings, bacon bits, shredded cheeses, pasta salads, caramelized nuts, croutons and sugary dried fruits. Stick to the basics consistently and you’ll see results far quicker! The June featured footlong by Subways (grilled chicken with avocado). Not really a fan, of the sandwich or newly offered avocado, bleh. 4. Pay attention to what your body tells you. Besides making sure you drinkwater before, during and after your meal, listen to your body. Most people continue eating after their body is full, causing weight gain.
5. Diet, don’t fast. You can still eat lots of foods even if you are trying to lose weight.Make sure they’re fiber-rich and full of water and when in doubt, choose fresh. Those preservatives aren’t doing you any favors! What are some ways you cut calories and make healthier decisions?

June 20, 2012"I feel that nothing is more frivolous than drinking my calories…"
My thoughts EXACTLY! I allow myself to drink coffee with calorie-free sweetener, and a little French Vanilla creamer; but aside from that I drink only bottled water. Why gain weight from a beverage?! :/
Georgina
June 21, 2012Exactly! I have some coconut or almond milk once in a while as a "treat" and once in a great while I'll get a soy latte at Starbucks. Most of the time it's low-cal (iced green tea, no sweetener). It just doesn't make sense π

June 20, 2012OOh I love this post!! This is pretty much how I live my life. I've always been in sports teams ever since I was very young so I had to eat healthy to maintain form. And now that I'm older I exercise daily and eat healthy since my family is generally into healthy eating it's very easy for me. I don't eat junk food all the time. I do indulge sometimes though and I believe it's important to do that sometimes otherwise you'll give into the unhealthy foods much easier.
I haven't had soda for about 2 years now and I only drink fresh juice if I do ever drink it! water, tea and coffee are my favourites!!
I also eat very little bread, mainly with my breakfast or sometimes a sandwich. I don't believe in not eating carbs at all because I think if your body is made of it, you should eat it. I just watch the type and the amount of carbs I eat π
ok sorry I left you an essay haha this is just a topic I love to talk about!!
xx

June 21, 2012You make an excellent point! It's incredibly important to have balance or your lifestyle really isn't logical – you'll be destined for failure. I indulge too and don't feel guilty about it. I don't do much bread/grains/rice either (so hard for your body to process). Don't apologize, I love hearing what others have to say! Thank you π

June 20, 2012Whenever I feel like I'd like to drop a few pounds, I cut down on carbs and sugars and it makes a huge difference! I also keep lots of healthy snacks around, like roasted unsalted nuts!

June 20, 2012Lots of veggies is a good one. I also cook with lean meats and dairy and use more indulgent ingredients (like bacon, goat cheese, etc) in small portions and only where it will make the biggest flavor impact.
In theory I'd cut on sugar too but sweets are my favorite so I just try to portion control them (and bake my own lower fat treats when possible).

June 21, 2012I love a bit of truffle oil from time to time too. There's nothing wrong as long as it's in moderation π
Great tips, thank you!
