1. People that are genuine about losing weight and getting into shape make specific goals. Making general objectives just sets you up for failure. So pick a target and keep your eyes on the prize, you’ll find yourself more motivated and focused without unnecessary ambiguity!
2. Be serious about what you want to incorporate into your diet and which foods you want to avoid. Identify how you plan to implement your new strategy as any lifestyle change requires balance. Having that cookie? Then you’ll make sure to avoid other foods containing sugar for the rest of the day.
3. Stay on top of your progress! Whichever method works best for you, a food journal, weekly weigh-ins or even just how your clothes fit (my method). Tracking your progress will only encourage you to work harder.
4. A positive mindset will take you far. If you miss a day at the gym, don’t beat yourself up and don’t overdo it the next day. Realize no dieter is perfect and tomorrow is a new day to do better.
5. Go the extra mile. Small changes add up in the larger picture. I cut calories everywhere I can, by drinking black coffee and then only water/tea the rest of the day. When you notice something you can correct or do better, do it. This will help you boost your willpower little by little.

June 13, 2012Interesting………I started keeping a journal again. When I write down EVERYTHING I eat and eat less, I lose more.
I did the New England Warrior Dash this past weekend and I could have finished obstacles much easier if I was in better shape. My plan for when I do the CT Warrior Dash this fall is to eat healthier this summer and voila….I will finish faster!
Great tips, they truly work. π
